What is it about identity politics that brings out the worse in people?

It doesn’t matter what side of the aisle you support — blindly embracing a political ideology simply because it opposes something you disagree with, is not something the breeds unity…

In fact, the rise of identity politics is what is both figuratively and literally tearing our great country apart.

The nature of identity politics doesn’t allow for the open discussion of their respective side’s ideologies — in fact, it does the opposite — and keeps any communication to a bare minimum, reducing it to just screaming, yelling and insulting.

This type of communication makes it impossible to find common ground. Without common ground, how can one side expect the other to be willing to listen — when they’ve got zero intention of actually listening — because they’re really just waiting for their turn to talk.

You can see it played out on social media daily…

Try logging into Facebook and not coming across at least four to five political posts within two screen scrolls.

The worst part is, these “debates” often dissolve into insults and threats of violence.

No kind of agreement … no common ground … just insults and promises of “I’m going to punch you in the face next time I see you.”

Even worse than that?

Is when it actually happens…

You may remember a story from last summer of the man that was shot over a Facebook argument?

If you didn’t hear about it, that’s not surprising, as it was a liberal doing the shooting — not the conservative…

You can bet dollars to doughnuts if it were the other way around, the story would have been played on those Left-leaning mainstream media outlets on a continuous loop.

Here’s how it went down:

Alex Stephens and Brian Sebring argued over Facebook…

Leftist Sebring then drove to Stephens’ house, honked the horn and when Stephens saw him, he began running towards Sebring, in hopes of a fistfight. He didn’t get one.

Instead, Sebring fired two shots at Stephens — shooting him in the thigh and butt — then fled the scene.

And this isn’t the only incident of its kind…

Left-initiated violence is happing all over the country — especially in the political hotbeds of Portland and Seattle, in the Pacific Northwest.

It’s getting nasty up there…

And while it’s been documented that the conservative organizations are trying to keep things from getting physical, Leftist organizations — like the area’s Antifa chapter — seem not to mind physically assaulting somebody from the Left.

Of course, this doesn’t normally seem to end up to well for the liberals — they tend to be a bit on the smaller and less physically imposing side with medical proof backing this up. (See my previous article on this HERE.)

But it doesn’t seem to stop them.

Leftist violence seems to be the narrative from around the country…

Conservatives try to discuss their politics – while liberals try to force their ideas and beliefs onto them – by force if necessary.

It’s gotten to be so prevalent, that Trump has had to get involved.

His response?

“You know, the left plays a tougher game, it’s very funny. I actually think that the people on the right are tougher, but they don’t play it tougher. Okay? I can tell you I have the support of the police, the support of the military, the support of the Bikers for Trump — I have the tough people, but they don’t play it tough — until they go to a certain point, and then it would be very bad, very bad.”

To be honest…

This isn’t a very presidential response.

Trump would be better served to try and unify the two sides instead of acknowledging the divide…

But that’s not our president.

He’s less concerned with being politically correct than he is with calling out right and wrong — and in this case — the Left is definitely wrong to physically assault anybody on the Right.

He went on to admonish the liberals in Washington, D.C. too, saying, “But the left plays it cuter and tougher. Like with all the nonsense that they do in Congress … with all this investigations — that’s all they want to do is — you know, they do things that are nasty.

Republicans never played this.”

Now, what does this sound like to you?

Does it sound like Trump is fed up with the hypocrisy of the Left?

Or does it sound like he’s trying to incite violence? Because that is how the liberal-leaning mainstream media is spinning what he said…

That he’s advocating and calling for violence against the Left.

That’s not what he’s doing…

At all.

But…

He is warning the left.

What he’s saying is — since the rise of identity politics in America — the Right has been civil. The Right has been embracing the whole

“turn the other cheek” philosophy…

But the more egregious the attacks, the less this is going to happen.

Not because Trump is telling them to, but because Trump understands human nature and realizes that somebody can only be pushed so far before they start pushing back.

But the fact that Trump is warning the Left about this means one thing…

It’s not too late.

We haven’t crossed that line yet — that line where violence becomes the “go-to” answer…

We need to fight that response whenever possible.

What we need to do now, more than ever, is stay the course.

Conservatives need to continue to turn that other cheek, because once that line has been crossed, it’s hard to go back. In fact, it’s close to impossible.

So, collectively, let’s do what we can to avoid this from happening…

Keep using facts…

Keep using logic…

Keep turning the other cheek…

Because the future of our country depends on it.
