Democrats are delusional if they think President Trump is going to take any step that would legitimize their unconstitutional attempt to convict him of “inciting insurrection” at the Capitol on January 6th.
On Thursday afternoon, President Trump’s legal team issued a response to Impeachment Manger Rep. Jamie Raskin’s request that Trump testify in-person at his Senate trial.
Trump attorneys Bruce L. Castor and David I. Schoen slammed Raskin’s “public relations stunt” that proves Democrats have no hard evidence to convict the president.
“Your letter only confirms what is known to everyone: you cannot prove your allegations against the 45th President of the United States, who is now a private citizen,” the legal counsel stated.
“The use of our Constitution to bring a purported impeachment proceeding is much too serious to try to play these games,” they concluded.

The president’s short and sweet response to Rep. Raskin’s illegitimate impeachment proceedings is accurate in that if they had enough evidence to convict him, it wouldn’t be necessary to bring him on trial.
The inconvenient truth is the 45th president called for supporters to “peacefully and patriotically” march in protest of certifying then-President-Elect Joe Biden as the winner of the 2020 presidential election.
In no way does that statement incite violence or encourage rioters to storm the Capitol building.
As the president’s lawyers contended in their Answer to the Article of Impeachment: Incitement of Violence, the president spoke within his legal right as a citizen of this country to use freedom of speech to call for protest. The words he used are protected under the law as they did not incite or provoke violence in any way.
Not only was his statement perfectly legal and peaceful, but Trump is also no longer a sitting president of the United States.
Therefore, proceeding to convict him in the Senate is entirely unconstitutional as the goal which is plainly stated under the 14th Amendment is removal from office.
It’s impossible to remove a private citizen from an office they don’t hold anymore.
But that’s not stopping the Democrats that are out for blood.
