Let’s get this out of the way…
As much as we support our president, we’re also smart enough to know that he isn’t perfect. He has made and WILL make mistakes. He’s human, just like the rest of us.
Recently, more details have emerged regarding the deal that Trump has made with Saudi Arabia, one of the tentative allies that America has in the Middle East, and it has raised more than a few eyebrows.
Saudi Arabia is—and always has been— out for what’s best for Saudi Arabia. They really don’t care about the US at all, only how much money they can take from our government.
They’re like the proverbial snake in the garden: they claim to be our friend, but the reality may be far more sinister.
Trump has signed a deal to sell arms to the country while also having them manufacture some military hardware for us…
However, if Trump moves forward with the deal, he needs to stay vigilant – because nothing is EVER as it seems with the Saudis.
A Story of Betrayal
Let me tell you a story…
I’ve known my friend Eric going on 12 years now. We worked together at a different research firm before opening up our own publishing company a few years later.
Eric’s parents had him a little later in life. His father James is actually a World War II veteran – and a TRUE American hero. In fact, a few years ago, his hometown in New York held a parade in his honor.
Of course, after the War, James came home to America and, along with the rest of the Greatest Generation, got to work making our country the greatest one in the world.
As a business owner, James was quite successful and made a name for himself in the world of marketing.
After YEARS of building a good reputation and a substantial fortune, James may have made the biggest mistake of his life…
He got involved with Saudi Arabia.
Now, this wasn’t something that James sought out…
The Saudi King and another high ranking government member, the Minister of Information, contacted him and his firm to do some work for the country. They wanted to increase tourism in their country, and they wanted to use James’ marketing firm to do it.
James met with the Saudi delegates IN Saudi Arabia and after some intense negotiating – resulting in a deal that would be worth millions – they signed a contract and James went home and got to work.
While James was waiting for an international wire – something that wasn’t exactly easy during the 1980’s – he did what MOST businessmen do: he used his own money to get the project rolling.
James sank almost all of his money into the project – and why wouldn’t he? He had a signed contract with the Saudi government that was going to pay him millions for the work that he was doing.
Can you see where this is headed?
Of course – you do…
Left Out in The Cold
The Saudis never actually paid James.
James flew back to Saudi Arabia a few times as he tried to sort out the problem with the payment…
But on the last trip, the associate that talked to James told him that they weren’t going to honor the contract – and that if he tried to level a lawsuit against them, he would have to do so in a Saudi court—a court in which he was all but guaranteed to lose.
James flew back home, dejected and now completely broke.
The deal with the Saudi’s put his company in the red, and it never really recovered.
Of course, James implored his own government to intervene on his behalf – to try and help him recoup at least SOME of the money that he had lost during this business deal…
And nobody would step in.
No American officials were willing to take on the Saudis.
So, this patriot, this American hero, was left with nothing.
He wound up writing a book about it – Denied: The Search for Saudi Justice – hoping to drum up some kind of support…
But nothing came of it.
This should be a cautionary tale to our president…
He needs to know what kind of people he’s dealing with and why he needs to keep BOTH eyes open.
If they can treat an American hero like this without a second thought…
They can and WILL do it again.
So, be careful, Mr. President…
“Our country is in danger, but not to be despaired of. Our enemies are numerous and powerful; but we have many friends, determining to be free, and heaven and earth will aid the resolution. On you depend the fortunes of America. You are to decide the important question, on which rest the happiness and liberty of millions yet unborn. Act worthy of yourselves” – Joseph Warren
