Conservatism is officially an underground movement. Nowadays, if you show the slightest dissent from the Left—even if you don’t necessarily agree with the Right—prepare for a tsunami of backlash from family, friends, and internet trolls. This might sound like a campaign advertisement, but Trump is the only person left standing between conservative America and the culture of the radical Left. He has shown he is the only person who can take on the Swamp and continue to fight on our behalf. We can’t trust even many of our Republican politicians, like never-Trumper Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, or Lindsey Graham. While we know for sure there’s no one we can count on the Left to fight for our freedom, there are only a select few on the Right we know we can trust…and among those few, Trump might just be our unlikely knight in shining armor.
Trump Vs The World
On Tuesday, Trump rather cryptically tweeted “THE LONE WARRIOR!” likely referring to himself and symbolizing his silent supporters who don’t feel they can speak out.
THE LONE WARRIOR!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 30, 2020
Although the president did not elaborate on what exactly he meant by his tweet, it’s safe to say he really is a “lone warrior” in today’s political climate. He is alone in fighting many battles against the Left when many Republicans are too cowardly to stand up to the mob.
While Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook are the usual offenders of big tech censorship, other popular internet platforms have revealed themselves to be working to silence President Trump and his loyal supporters. Trump’s tweet follows Monday’s ordeal of Amazon-owned streaming platform Twitch and Reddit’s censorship of conservatives.
Big Tech Fights The Conservative Voice
Twitch, which is a video game streaming website, suspended Trump’s account for allegedly violating the platform’s “hate speech” rules. Apparently, what prompted the company’s action was a 2015 video of the president describing illegal immigrants crossing America’s southern border. You know, that famous video that Democrats use to claim that Trump was accusing all Mexicans of being “rapists,” when he was in fact saying that criminals who illegally cross the border are often rapists (not law-abiding Mexicans). Twitch also criticized a video from Trump’s recent Tulsa rally where he talked about “a very tough hombre,” who was breaking into people’s homes.
The gaming platform removed the videos and suspended the president’s account. In a statement to USA Today, they said, “Hateful conduct is not allowed on Twitch.” I guess criticizing criminals is offensive now.
Separately, Reddit, which is known to be a fringe social media outlet where just about anything goes, has banned pro-Trump group The_Donald which had close to one million subscribers. CEO Steve Huffman announced on Reddit that the group supposedly regularly broke rules about harassment and hate speech. Huffman said in a statement, “All communities on Reddit must abide by our content policy in good faith. We banned r/The_Donald because it has not done so, despite every opportunity,” Huffman wrote. “The community has consistently hosted and upvoted more rule-breaking content than average … and its mods have refused to meet our most basic expectations.”
Facebook, The Lone Exception
Meanwhile, Facebook is receiving surmounting pressure from big advertisers like Pepsi, Coca Cola, Starbucks, Verizon, etc., to force the social media platform to do more about what they call “hate speech.” The Leftist Facebook boycott cost them $7 billion dollars due to the social media outlet’s 8.3% stock market drop following the mass advertiser pullout. Facebook has certainly done questionable things on their platform to sway elections and suppress conservative news in their algorithms. However, they’ve taken a hardline stance when it comes to publicly and openly censoring people or citing them for “hate speech.” For example, when Twitter put fact-checks on Trump’s tweets, Facebook refused to do the same. They’ve repeated their intention to let people say what they want, with the logical exception of actual threats of violence and similar posts. They have generally been good about supporting free speech on their platform.
It is interesting, however, that conservatives predicted years ago that the Left would eventually eat their own with their ideology. Cancel culture apparently does not discriminate. If a company or person does not go along with the most Left-leaning of Leftists, they can be canceled even if they have held a strong allegiance for years. It is never enough for them. This is why it’s so important to stay strong in conservative beliefs and never concede, even slightly, to the Left – it will not be enough. We have to stand strong like Trump, even if it seems like we are a “lone warrior.”
And when enough “lone warriors” stand up, we’ll realize that we’re not so alone after all.
