The Democrats have opened an impeachment inquiry into President Trump’s phone call with the Ukrainian President, in which he allegedly put pressure on the Ukrainians to investigate Joe Biden. Democrats claim that he threatened to withdraw funding from Ukraine if they did not comply with his request.
However, there is no evidence that this ever occurred, and yet they insist on moving forward with the impeachment investigation.
But, when you think about it, maybe they SHOULD go all the way and vote to impeach the president.
I know, I know, you’re probably thinking I’ve lost my mind and gone over to the dark side.
Just hear me out.
First, we need to have a little lesson in constitutional law.
The House of Representatives votes to approve the articles of impeachment and sends them to the Senate, where a trial is conducted and evidence is presented. If two-thirds of the Senate vote to have the president removed, then he will be removed from office.
There seems to be a misunderstanding by the general public about what impeachment is. The House basically acts as a grand jury that determines whether charges should be brought for a trial.
Assuming that the House Dems vote to impeach Trump, the proceedings would then move over to the Senate Chamber and a trial would take place.
That is where things get interesting. This could actually be a good thing for President Trump. It is inconceivable that 67 Senators would vote to remove Trump from office. There are 54 Republicans in the Senate majority.
Trump’s legal team could use this to their advantage. The Senate Majority will set the rules for the process and could allow any witnesses to be brought before the Chamber.
At that point, the president’s attorneys can subpoena anyone they want. So, in theory, there is nothing from stopping the President’s team from calling witnesses to the stand that would prove the corruption that has been committed against the president.
His lawyers could bring in people like James Comey, Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, Bruce Ohr, Glenn Simpson, Donna Brazille, Eric Holder, Loretta Lynch, Christopher Steele, Hillary Clinton, John Brennan, James Clapper, and many, MANY others. Their testimonies, whether provided willingly or not, would show the American people what the previous administration did to President Trump with regards to the Russia Hoax espionage episode.
A lot of nefarious plots may be revealed that would cause former Obama officials to point fingers at each other in fear of being incriminated and sent to prison if they were charged.
The Trump team will have an entire national audience to get to the truth of the possibly illegal actions undertaken by the Obama Administration against the Trump campaign and the deep state’s efforts to take out President Trump through unlawful spying and conspiracy.
It is an opportunity that he should not pass up.
Only two presidents have ever been impeached—Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton—and both were not removed from office.
Contrary to popular belief, Richard Nixon was never impeached because he resigned before the House could vote on his impeachment.
Trump will not be removed from office, so why not take the public forum and expose the Obama administration to the American people?
In the words of former Chicago Mayor and Obama Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, “never let a good crisis go to waste.”
