A new poll out today shows that the radical abortion policies advocated by many on the political left, during the past month, are changing the tide of public opinion.
This is welcomed news for the pro-life movement.
A new poll conducted by Marist shows that nearly half of Americans identify as pro-life.
That is a HUGE swing from last month’s Marist poll.
In the same poll conducted last month, 55% of Americans identified as pro-choice, and 38% identified as pro-life.
This month only 48% identified as pro-choice, and 47% identified as pro-life.
What could have shifted Americans views on abortion so quickly?
Answer: The radical late-term abortion policies advocated by the far left.
In the past month, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed into law a bill that would allow a baby to be killed up until the point of birth. The bill would allow the mother to have the baby aborted in the
last minutes of birth.
In a sickening display, Cuomo ordered government buildings to be lit up pink in honor of the new law.
In Virginia, Governor Ralph Northam backed a proposed bill in the Virginia House of Delegates that would have allowed the baby to be murdered after it was born.
He said the following about the proposed legislation:
When we talk about third-trimester abortions, these are done with the consent of the mother, with the consent of physicians, more than one physician by the way, and it’s done in cases where there may be severe deformities, there may be a fetus which is non-viable. So, in this particular example, if the mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen, the infant would be delivered, the infant would be kept comfortable, the infant would be resuscitated if this is what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physician and the mother.
This policy has caused many Americans to re-evaluate their position on abortion. And this includes independents and some Democrats.
According to the poll:
Among Democrats, the gap between pro-life and pro-choice identifiers was cut in half from 55% to 27%. The number of Democrats now identifying as pro-life is 34%, up from 20% last month, while the number identifying as pro-choice fell from 75% to 61%. Younger Americans also moved dramatically, now dividing 47% pro-life to 48% pro-choice. One month ago, the gap was almost 40 percentage points with only 28% identifying as pro-life and 65% identifying as pro-choice.
This past month could be an historic shift in the pro-life movement.
President Trump predicted as much when he said, “This is going to lift up the whole pro-life movement like maybe it’s never been lifted up before.”
Even everyday Democrats are horrified by the depravity of the radical left. They are so appalled by their actions that they have decided to look at the abortion issue in a different light. Even if they are pro-choice, most of them aren’t barbaric enough to support late-term abortion. Eight-in-ten Americans are opposed to abortion after three-months of pregnancy.
The radical pro-abortion Democrats in positions of power might have just shot themselves in the foot. They figured the American people would rally to their side; when, in fact, just the opposite has happened.
Independent voters who decide the election is no longer in their corner, either. This could bode well for Republicans and President Trump at the ballot box in 2020.
The Republicans should run on a pro-life platform. Early indications are that they will. President Trump tweeted, “Democrats are becoming the party of late-term abortions, high taxes, open borders and crime!”
Keep hammering those points, Mr. President! You are far more likely to get four more years in office if you do.
Even more importantly — the life of innocent children could be saved.
Mark February of 2019 on your calendars: This could be the month when the pro-life movement’s dreams became reality.
And the pro-life movement can thank the Radical pro-abortion left. They are driving rational thinking Americans to the side of life.
