Wokeness is something that we conservatives have laughed about while making fun of its snowflake proponents. But now wokeness may literally be putting our lives in danger.
United Airlines has announced that 50% of their new pilot trainees over the next decade will be women and specifically women of color.
That sounds nice until you think beyond stage one.
If the women they select to train are qualified, then by all means, they should be given a shot.
However, if United lowers its standards for admittance, this is dangerous.
The airline industry has a stellar safety record and people that fly regularly would like to keep it that way.
Most pilots are men and they have been doing a damn fine job at keeping their passengers safe.
Why fix what isn’t broken? Hiring women for diversity’s sake is not only stupid, it’s also potentially deadly.
All the passengers that crash can die equally. But, hey, at least they were killed by a racially diverse pilot/crew.

Did United ever stop to consider that maybe most women don’t want to be pilots? Maybe that is why there are so few women pilots in the sky.
If women are applying and are qualified but are being denied training, that sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen.
Otherwise, it is simply the case that women don’t want to be pilots or the ones that do apply to be pilots aren’t qualified.
Air travel requires that the best of the best man the planes, and one small mistake could lead to hundreds of deaths in a blink of an eye.
It is like going under the knife for lifesaving heart surgery. Would you rather have Doctor A who is a woman of color but isn’t as well trained or Doctor B who is a well-trained and revered white male doctor?
Doctor A might not be a skilled surgeon, but she did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night (I might be dating myself with this reference.)
The answer to this rhetorical question is self-evident.
The Left despises merit-based systems and prefers affirmative action policies that promise equity—which is impossible— over rewarding people who are most deserving.
This dangerous equity gambit has even infiltrated the United States Military.
Fitness standards are now being deemed too difficult for women and there is an effort underway to do away with difficult tests altogether.
The Daily Wire reported, “The United States Army is reportedly considering doing away with its new ‘gender-neutral physical test’ after test results showed that the majority of women failed while approximately 90 percent of men passed. Officials are reportedly considering having different evaluation categories for men and women due to the physiological differences between the two.”
Being woke is not only bad for our country, but it could cost us our lives.
But, hey, at least we can die equally.
