Well, it’s official…
The Taliban has installed itself as the government of the formerly free country of Afghanistan.
The people there had just enough of a taste of democracy to know true freedom. But then, practically overnight, that freedom was ripped away and replaced with an authoritarian theocracy that will surely put many Afghans— especially those of the Christian faith—in mortal danger.
Can you imagine?
It’s a terrible thought, and it should make each and every American appreciate the freedoms we have because the Founding Father decided to ALWAYS give the power to the people.
Too bad the Afghans won’t have the right to choose anymore. Their power is now gone.
With the US no longer in-country, the Taliban swept over Afghanistan like a tsunami, and while there are still a few small strongholds of freedom fighters left over from the Afghan security forces, odds are they won’t last too long and will soon fall to the extremist forces.
Without the US there to help protect it, democracy effectively died the moment the last solider stepped onto the final departing plane.
The Familiar Faces Of The Taliban’s New Government
Now fully in control, the Taliban has decided to form a new government for their nation, and they’ve already signed on with two powerful allies. Both Russia and China have decided to throw in with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, giving them access to Afghanistan’s valuable resources.
Now, you may be wondering who the Taliban has decided will represent them in their new government. Which of their fighters are they going to put in charge of their country?
Well, we know at least four of these fighters intimately because they were once prisoners at Guantanamo Bay.
All four of them were released in exchange for captive soldier Bowe Bergdahl, who was taken prisoner after he deserted in 2009…and that exchange was facilitated by none other than the Democrats’ “chosen one” himself, Barack Obama.
Four of the top members of the Taliban’s new government are former Guantanamo Bay prisoners who were freed by the Obama administration in exchange for an Army deserter…and NOBODY is talking about it.
The four were members of the hardline “Guantanamo Five” or “Taliban Five,” a group of men that John McCain once called “the hardest of the hard-core.”
All five are deemed “high risk” to the United States and were recommended for “continued detention,” but were released in exchange for the American prisoner under Obama’s supervision.
And now, four of the five are sitting at the head of the table in the Taliban’s new government.
The men were all appointed to their posts by decree and are as follows:
Abdul Haq Wasiq will now be the Acting Director of Intelligence, Norullah Noori is now the Acting Minister of Borders and Tribal Affairs, Mohammad Fazl is the new Deputy Defense Minister, and Khairullah Khairkhah will be the Taliban’s Acting Minister of Information and Culture.
Of the four, the most feared by Afghans would have to be Mullah Mohammad Fazl, who returns to the government post he held before 9/11, a role in which it’s alleged that he was killed THOUSANDS of the country’s minorities, Shia.
If you’re wondering where the fifth member is, don’t worry. They found a spot for him too. Mohammad Nabi Omari was appointed as governor of the eastern Khost Province in August.
All of these high-powered positions, now held by men who were once American prisoners.
It’s enough to make your stomach turn…
And Rep. Mike Waltz, a former Green Beret who served in Afghanistan, is sick of it.
Harsh Words For President Biden
Waltz expressed his disgust that these key positions will now be held by men deemed to “high risk,” telling the foreign press, “I have déjà vu knowing it’s the same national security team in place now that then ‘exchanged’ such high-value terrorists for traitor Bowe Bergdahl. I personally led searches for Bergdahl and soldiers in other units lost their lives in search of him. Seeing these former Guantanamo prisoners now in charge of a terrorist state that will once again threaten the homeland is a slap in the face to every veteran, gold star family, and victims of 9/11.”
Harsh words…but when it comes from someone who’s lived the life of a solider fighting for democracy, it makes total sense.
However, Waltz didn’t stop there. He also wanted to let the current administration know exactly how he felt about what’s happened: “Despite this, the Biden Administration has still yet to learn appeasement has serious national security consequences and we are more unsafe now as a result of this disastrous withdrawal.”
“We are now unsafe”…
He’s talking about all of us.
All Americans are unsafe because of Biden’s botched pullout. This is nothing short of the Butterfly Effect in practice. It was all set in motion by Obama’s incompetence years ago, and it carried over into Biden’s presidency.
Can anybody answer why Congress hasn’t impeached him yet?
Other than the fact that he’s a Democrat, of course?
Bet they can’t…
And that’s what’s truly troubling.
