It was a weekend of horror for thousands of Southwest Airline travelers as the airline canceled 2,000 flights, nearly 30% of its scheduled departures.
The airlines were quick to blame inclement weather in Florida for many of the flight cancelations—despite the weather in the Sunshine State being no worse than usual for this time of year.
Southwest also blamed FAA flight control and staffing issues for the flight cancelations.
The FAA immediately fired back at the airline and denied Southwest’s contention by tweeting: “No FAA air traffic staffing shortages have been reported since Friday. Flight delays & cancelations occurred for a few hours Friday PM due to widespread severe weather, military training, & limited staffing in one area of the Jacksonville en route center.”
This led many to speculate—validly—that there might be more to the cancelations than met the eye.
Recently, Southwest announced that they would be requiring all employees get the COVID vaccine.
The penalty for failing to comply is termination of emplyoment, no questions asked.
Southwest employees have until November 24 to get the vaccine, or they will be fired.
Outlets such as the Daily Wire reported that they had reached out to several Southwest employees who told them they were using vacation and sick time to get ahead of the November 24th deadline when they anticipated they would be fired for failing to get the jab.
Southwest has joined with American Airlines, Jet Blue, United, and Alaska airlines in requiring that employees get the vaccine or risk being fired.
Delta airlines has not joined the other airlines by requiring the vaccine for employment, but has said they will impose a $200 per month fine for failure to receive the vaccine.
These airlines are following the unconstitutional vaccine mandate announced last month by President Biden, who vowed to impose stiff fines on employers—without Constitutional authority— if they didn’t mandate their employees receive the vaccine.
Upon making the announcement, Biden lectured us plebians when he said, “We’ve been patient. But our patience is wearing thin, and your refusal has cost all of us.”
Earlier this month, Biden received assistance in his unconstitutional mandate from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats who slipped a little provision into their massive and unnecessary $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill that would increase fines on employers for failing to enforce the vaccine mandate.
The fines would rise to $700,000 per violation.
Forbes reported, “Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s House quietly tucked an enforcement mechanism into their $3.5 trillion ‘reconciliation” bill, passed it out of the Budget Committee, and sent it to the House floor.
Buried on page 168 of the House Democrats’ 2,465-page mega bill
is a tenfold increase in fines for employers that ‘willfully,’ ‘repeatedly,’ or even seriously violate a section of labor law that deals with hazards, death, or serious physical harm to their employees.
The increased fines on employers could run as high as $70,000 for serious infractions, and $700,000 for willful or repeated violations—almost three-quarters of a million dollars for each fine. If enacted into law, vax enforcement could bankrupt non-compliant companies even more quickly than the $14,000 OSHA fine anticipated under Biden’s announced mandate.”
It is time for civil disobedience against unlawful conduct emanating from the Biden administration.
Employees at American airlines as well as Southwest have pronounced their intentions to defy Biden and their company’s mandates at great risk to their careers and personal finances.
This weekend’s Southwest mass cancelations are just a preview of what is to come if Biden and airline employers don’t change course.
Their policies will create a living hell for holiday travelers not seen in recent memory.
But sometimes, perilous times and government tyranny call for ordinary people to take a stand.
And if that’s what’s really going on here, they should be commended.
