We are living in a time where facts no longer exist. Things that were once set in stone are now simply subjective notions that can be changed for any reason. This is a rule that is disproportionately present on the Left’s side of the political aisle.

In response to Trump’s attempt to fill the current vacant Supreme Court seat, the Left has gone so far as to weaponize the dictionary to swing public opinion in their favor about Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s statements in her confirmation hearings.

Overnight, with no forewarning whatsoever, Merriam-Webster changed the definition of “sexual preference” following one Democrat’s criticism of Barrett’s use of the term during Tuesday’s hearings.

The dictionary updated “sexual preference” to be noted as “offensive” adding “The term preference as used to refer to sexual orientation is widely considered offensive in its implied suggestion that a person can choose who they are sexually or romantically attracted to.”

The sudden change came after Democrat Senator Mazie Hirono attacked Judge Barrett for using an “offensive and outdated term” during yesterday’s hearing.

Hirono said, “You use the term ‘sexual preference’ to describe those in the LGBTQ community. And let me make clear, ‘sexual preference’ is an offensive and outdated term.”

According to the National Review, Hirono’s condemnation came after MSNBC producer Kyle Griffin tweeted, “’Sexual preference,’ a term used by Justice Barrett, is offensive and outdated. The term implies sexuality is a choice. It is not. News organizations should not repeat Justice Barrett’s words without providing that important context.”

The dictionary reportedly immediately followed suit in changing the definition of “sexual preference” to reflect Griffin’s and Hirono’s opinion on the term.

This move is contradictory to the direct meaning of “preference,” which is defined separately by Merriam-Webster as “the act of preferring” which means “to like better or best.”

Therefore, “sexual preference” indeed implies sexuality is a choice. Furthermore, Griffin and Hirono are 100% incorrect that people don’t always choose their sexual preference.

Obviously, most people feel a biological inclination toward one sex or the other. However, it is quite common in the LGBTQ community to choose a specific orientation while retaining the right to switch at any time.

Is that not what the whole “sexual freedom” movement was all about?

The Left never ceases to contradict themselves.

Matt Walsh from the Daily Wire gave a great example of why the dictionary’s latest change is incorrect any way you think about it.

He wrote on Twitter, “A gay man transitions into a woman. If he is really a woman now, he is no longer gay. Thus, sexual orientation can change. If he must always be gay because orientation is immutable, he must always be a man. Basic logic 101. There is no way around this.”

Leave it to the Democrats to start adding confines to a term their LGBTQ supporters typically would not want defined just because a Trump-appointee to the Supreme Court used it during a hearing. This is just more Trump Derangement Syndrome caused by the Left’s unwillingness to accept that Trump got a third pick on America’s highest court.

However, the worst part of this is that the Left is so powerful that they can change what we know as facts on a whim for any reason. Hopefully, by electing more conservatives to our legislature, we will be able to restore truth and honesty to our society.

But until that happens, the Left’s Orwellian tactics will continue unabated.
