You would think that somebody who has spent their entire life in the government would understand the way politics work.
But in this day and age, that’s asking too much, because a LOT of our elder statesmen seem to forget that both they and the government at large are instructed and bound by the limits of the US Constitution.
We could sit here all day and talk about all the different ways that Joe Biden has acted in direct opposition to that important document that shapes our government, but honestly who has that kind of time?
Of more pressing concern today is a DIFFERENT elder statesman whose actions are equally concerning. We’re talking about the darling of American socialists everywhere, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.
Because just like Biden and other career politicians, whenever government stops working the way he wants it to, Sanders gets MAD.
America’s Favorite Socialist
Sanders has had a long history of being a bit of an “outsider” in DC…but that tends to happen when you’re obsessed with textbook communism and think the USSR made some valid points.
In fact, he’s so obsessed with Russian culture that he and his wife spent their honeymoon in the communist republic in 1980—and he even spent an evening or two partying (shirtless) with the locals in a bar.
All that happened while he was actively employed as a representative of the United States government.
Suffice it to say Bernie Sanders is a full-on Leftist.
And by “Leftist,” I mean he’s the type of guy who will condemn the rich for not “paying their fair share” while also owning multiple homes and having millions in his personal bank accounts.
Sanders has a dream of the government paying for everything an average person needs, and he wants the bulk of that payment to come from taxes on the wealthy…even though when it comes to his own taxes, he pays the bare minimum.
The hypocrisy is absolutely mind-numbing.
However, all that being said, we’d at least expect Ol’ Bernie to understand how our government works given that he’s only ever worked in politics… but he seems to have forgotten everything he’s learned. That’s why he’s now railing against his fellow Democrats for doing exactly what they’re supposed to do.
Bernie tore into Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema, two of his Democratic colleagues, for being the only two members of their caucus to vote against Biden’s $3.5 trillion (That’s TRILLION with a “T”), 2,400-page infrastructure bill.
Sanders was so mad, he held a press conference, telling reporters, “Two people do not have the right to sabotage what 48 want – what the president of the United States wants. That, to me, is wrong.”
No, Bernie, what’s wrong is that these two people have EVERY right to oppose the bill, especially Manchin, who has said repeatedly that the bill is WAY too big and needs to be capped at $1.5 trillion (again, that’s TRILLION…with a “T”).
And while Sinema has said she wouldn’t reveal her proposal publicly, one can only assume that it’s a lower amount than the $3.5 trillion that Biden and the Dems are trying to force down America’s throat.
Why Is Bernie So Mad?
“Let me tell you who is vigorously opposed to this legislation and I think that it’s important that the American people understand,” Bernie whined before listing off notorious boogiemen like lobbyists in the pharmaceutical, health insurance companies, and fossil fuel industries, all of which he claims are paying cash in order to block the plan.
“And it goes without saying that the billionaire class and large corporations are spending a fortune in opposition to this bill because they love the idea that [they] don’t pay a nickel in federal income tax.”
Oh, they pay, Bernie… and you know it.
The top 1% of our country pay for almost 70% of the taxes, so no one can say they’re not paying their fair share. You idiots just want more cash to play with, and you’re willing to fleece the wealthy to make it happen.
Bernie directed his vitriol at Manchin in particular, due to the comments the senator from West Virginia made when explained why he couldn’t support the $3.5 trillion bill: “I cannot accept our economy or basically our society moving towards an entitlement mentality … that you’re entitled.”
This comment drove Bernie over the edge…
“Is protecting working families and cutting childhood poverty an ‘entitlement? Does Senator Manchin think we should once again have one of the highest levels of childhood poverty of any major country on Earth? Is that really too much to ask in the richest country on Earth… that elderly people have teeth in their mouth and can see and can hear? Does Senator Manchin not believe that we have to end the absurdity of the United States paying by far the highest prices in the world for prescription drugs, sometimes ten times more for a particular drug than it’s paid for in Canada or other countries around the world? Does Senator Manchin believe that we should be the only major country on Earth not to guarantee paid family and medical leave and that working mothers should not be able to stay home with a child who is sick. Are workers not entitled to be able to do that?”
Settle down, Bern, you’re going to blow a gasket! We get that you’re passionate about spending TRILLIONS we don’t have, but seriously, relax, man.
Sanders said one more thing about Manchin before ending his time with reporters, “The time is long overdue for him to tell us with specificity, what he wants and what he does not want and to explain that to the people of West Virginia and America . . . I do not understand how, at this time in world history, you cannot talk about the crisis of climate change and tell us what you want to do. That is really inexcusable.”
And there you have it, folks…
Bernie Sanders kindly highlighted a LOT of things that are in the infrastructure bill that have absolutely NOTHING to do with the nation’s infrastructure!
This is all just exactly what Manchin called it: an entitlement mentality.
This bill is the Dems’ big move to fund all of their pet projects, spending money not on things our country actually needs, but on what our politicians want.
Sander could use a lesson in what his job actually is. It’s not “taking care of” the American people, it’s ensuring their freedoms. That’s it.
If he can’t do that, then it’s time for him to move on to greener pastures…
Maybe he can spend more time at his posh lake house in Vermont.
You know, take some time to relax in opulence…just like every other communist revolutionary.
“Now is the time to alter our government. Now is the time to stop the movement toward oligarchy. Now is the time to create a government which represents all Americans and not just the 1%… No more excuses. We must all become involved in the political process.” – Bernie Sanders
