A common Democrat talking point goes like this: “Republicans are trying to suppress and restrict voting rights by proposing election integrity laws.” We hear it from Democrats everywhere, at both the state and federal level.

But the truth is, this is yet another lie being pushed by Democrats and their media brethren

No, Dems, conservatives are trying to simply prevent you from rigging the election again. Election integrity means what it says. Conservatives have no intention of preventing anyone who wants to vote legally from voting.

And yet the lie continues.

Take this report from the Washington Post, which states, “Meanwhile, GOP-controlled state legislatures around the country have been proposing laws that would restrict absentee balloting, early voting and other aspects of election administration that critics say represent a cynical ploy to make it harder primarily for Democratic voters to participate.”

Meanwhile, President Trump proposed election integrity reforms at CPAC this past weekend.

Trump proposed the following: “We need one election day…We must have voter ID…We need universal signature matching…There should be a 100% requirement to verify the citizenship of every person who votes, and there must be a chain of custody protections for every ballot, every ballot…it is undeniable that election rules were illegally changed at the last minute in almost every swing state, with the procedures rewritten by local politicians… you’re not allowed to do that… and local judges. They want more time. They want this. They want that. All done by local politicians or local judges, as opposed to state legislatures as required by the Constitution of the United States.”

Sounds like common sense, not voter suppression, doesn’t it?

According to Barack Obama, Trump is a threat to our democracy, and, without basis, he claimed during his 2020 Democrat Convention speech that Trump is trying to suppress the vote.

Obama said, “They believe that in a democracy, the right to vote is sacred, and we should be making it easier for people to cast their ballot, not harder…So I am also asking you to believe in your own ability — to embrace your own responsibility as citizens — to make sure that the basic tenets of our democracy endure. Because that’s what at stake right now. Our democracy.”

He continued: “Well, here’s the point: this president and those in power — those who benefit from keeping things the way they are — they are counting on your cynicism. They know they can’t win you over with their policies. So they’re hoping to make it as hard as possible for you to vote, and to convince you that your vote doesn’t matter. That’s how they win.”

Oh, yes, we conservatives only win because we are willing to destroy the integrity of the vote to do so. That’s patently absurd and is actually quite a disgusting charge. I don’t know of one conservative who is calling for voter suppression. However, the Dems never let facts get in the way of their narrative.

Failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacy Abrams still hasn’t conceded to Governor Brian Kemp, who beat her three years ago. Even so, the media doesn’t chastise Abrams for failing to concede an election loss and pushing conspiracy theories.

Abrams still tries to imply that she lost because of some nefarious racist plot to deny minorities the right to vote. Abrams—herself an African American— has claimed that Brian Kemp, as secretary of state, sought to suppress the minority vote.

However, upon further review, her conspiracy theories are bogus.

Here are the facts.

Abrams appeared on “CBS This Morning” last year to explain why she still hasn’t conceded the election to Kemp. When asked why she wouldn’t just accept her defeat with dignity, she said, “Because concession means to say that the process was fair. I am complicit if I say that that system is fair.”

Give it up already! You lost!

Jeffrey Tobin at National Review did an excellent job of debunking Abram’s false narrative. It is worth quoting here.

Tobin wrote: “The claims of voter suppression rest primarily on the fact that as Georgia secretary of state, Kemp enforced a statute passed by a Democratic-majority legislature and signed by a Democratic governor in 1997. It required the voting rolls to be periodically purged to remove names of voters who were dead, or who had moved away or were incarcerated. Under this law, 600,00 names of people who hadn’t voted in the last three elections were removed from the rolls in 2017 by Kemp’s office.”

Conservatives have no intention of restricting the vote, we just want to make sure the election process is fair.

Democrats are the ones who are attacking our democracy by pushing voting procedures that will rig elections in their favor.

They want to codify the election process they used to win in 2020. If anyone is suppressing the vote, it’s the Democrats, not the Republicans.

This is yet another big lie being told by the Democrats and their media allies.

But remember, gang: conspiracy theories only abound the Right.
