American’s love their guns, don’t they?

MANY Americans love their guns…but there’s a whole segment of the population (mainly on the Left) that abhors guns and would like nothing more than to see them disappear from this plane of existence.

However, for those of us that know how important an armed citizenry is, we would love nothing more than for each and every household to have a firearm with which they can protect hearth, home, and, if needed, country.

That’s what the Second Amendment was created for, right?

To defend the United States of America from tyranny – either from foreign invaders or domestic despots.

Would that still be the case?

Would the American people rise up and defend themselves, their families, and their neighbors from tyranny?

We used to think so – but with the ongoing deep division in American politics, that may not be the case anymore.

Unfortunately, we find ourselves on diametrically different sides– and where one side sees tyranny, the other doesn’t necessarily see the same thing.

Different Views On Tyranny

For example, the Left sees what the federal agents in Portland are doing, and they’re calling it tyranny. They see a violation of their First Amendment right to assemble peacefully to protest…

However, the Right sees it very differently. The moment that the “peaceful protestors” began destroying property, setting fires, and assaulting officers, they lost the moral high ground and they’re no longer operating under the guidelines that the US Constitution puts forth.

On the flipside, many on the Left would probably see the confiscation of firearms after a strict gun law is passed as lawful, even though it unquestionably goes against Second Amendment. They would SUPPORT said confiscation instead of coming to the aid of their fellow Americans.

The past few months have put fear into the heart of MANY Americans…

The pandemic, the protests, the riots—it seems that 2020’s theme is fear and uncertainty.

That being said, when people are scared, they tend to look for ways to protect themselves…

And in the US, there’s no better way to protect yourself than with a reliable firearm—so for the FIFTH straight month in a row, record number of Americans are walking into gun stores and buying firearms, many for the first time.

However, it’s undecided whether this is a good or bad thing, for many reasons…

We don’t know if the people buying those firearms actually know how to actually use them, and we can only hope it’s to protect their families and not people gearing up for some kind of 21st Century civil war.

Guns… Lots And Lots Of Guns

In March, early on in the coronavirus pandemic, Americans responded by buying firearms in record numbers, even when some governors tried to shutter dealers as “non-essential” businesses…

For that month, 3,740,688 background checks were conducted by the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS)—a new record.

However, that record didn’t hold for long, as June saw the FBI perform 3,931,607 background checks—a whopping 70% jump from the year previous.

In July, the surge in firearm sales continued, as the FBI conducted a knee-bending 3,639,224 NICS background checks—a 79% increase from July 2019.

Of course, it’s important to know that background checks do not always necessarily translate into gun sales…

But there are DEFINITELY a lot of guns being sold.

According to the Washington Free Beacon, “July 2020 saw an estimated 1,795,602 gun sales — a new record and an increase of 133 percent over July 2019, according to a Washington Free Beacon analysis of FBI data. July is the fifth consecutive month to set a gun-sales record.”

However, there are some other outlets that claim that almost 1.8 million guns sold is falling short of the REAL number since private sales aren’t accounted for in that equation.

Small Arms Analytics & Forecasting, an organization that tracks gun sales and background checks conducted, believes more than 2 million guns were sold.

That’s a lot of firepower on American streets…

And while the conservative in you may love this, the conservative in you might also want to be wary of this fact—because if the Left is arming themselves as well, we need to be asking “why”.

Maybe people just want to get their guns bought in case Biden does win and puts that whacko Beto in charge of gun control – you know, the guy that famously said, “Hell, yes we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47 – we’re not going to allow it to be used against fellow Americans anymore.”

It’s hard to tell…

What we know is that Americans ARE arming themselves now more than ever – and hopefully that leads to a much nicer society.

It worked for the Wild West. Hopefully it works now, too.
