Throughout history, there have been many great rivalries that have captured our attention.
Ali vs. Frazer, Hatfields vs. McCoys…and now Rand Paul vs. Anthony Fauci might be taking a spot at the top of the list.
Well, that might be a stretch, but it is definitely entertaining watching the two duke it out in Congressional hearings. Their head-to-head clashes have become legendary.
Senator Rand Paul doesn’t buy the BS spewing from the mouth of Dr. Anthony Fauci, and in response, the Good Doctor lashes out at Paul and lays bare for all to see that the infectious disease “expert” is a fraud.
The latest battle between the two happened on Tuesday. Senator Paul accused Dr. Fauci of funding gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab, from which many people now believe the coronavirus emanated.
Gain of function is when strains of viruses present in animals are manipulated to transmit to humans as well.
So let me ask: Why in the hell would anyone want to take a disease and make it transferable to humans? And why the hell was the United States government funding that research?
Well, that is exactly what Senator Paul was trying to figure out.
Here is the exchange between Fauci and Paul as reported by the Post Millennial:
“Knowing that it is a crime to lie to Congress, do you wish to retract your statement of May 11 where you claim that the NIH never funded gain of function research in Wuhan.” Paul asked Fauci.
“Senator Paul,” Fauci began, “I have never lied before the Congress and I do not retract that statement. This paper that you are referring to was judged by qualified staff up and down the chain as not being gain of function.”
Paul interrupted, “You take an animal virus, and you increase its transmissibility to humans, you’re saying that’s not gain of function?” he asked incredulously.
“That is correct,” Fauci defended, “and Senator Paul you do not know what you are talking about, quite frankly, and I want to say that officially: You do not know what you are talking about.”
This isn’t the first time the two have gone at it. The two have previously battled over school openings and mask mandates.
Paul hilariously brought attention to Fauci’s double-mask-wearing theatrics back in March.
Senator Paul called out Fauci for his obvious theatrical wearing of two masks despite having been vaccinated himself. If the vaccines are so effective, then why does anyone need to wear a mask? That was the question that many people in the nation have been asking, and it was the point Rand Paul was making to Fauci.
Here is a description of the exchange between Paul and Anthony Fauci, as reported by Fox News:
“You’re telling everybody to wear a mask whether they’ve had an infection or had a vaccine. What I’m saying is they have immunity and everybody agrees they have immunity,’ Paul, who is an ophthalmologist, told Fauci.
‘What studies do you have that people who have had the vaccine or had infection are spreading the infection? If we’re not spreading the infection, isn’t it just theater? You’ve had the vaccine and you’re wearing two masks isn’t that theater?’ Paul continued.
‘Here we go again with the theater, let’s get down to the facts,’ Fauci shot back.
‘When you talk about reinfection and you don’t keep in the concept of variants, that’s an entirely different ballgame. That’s a good reason for a mask,’ he said…
What study has found reinfection with severe symptoms with variants? You’re making policy based on conjecture,’ Paul said.
‘You’ve been vaccinated and you parade around in two masks for show,’ Paul continued. ‘You’re defying everything we know about immunity by telling people to wear a mask that have been vaccinated.’
As always, Rand Paul knocked Fauci out. It was yet another TKO of the Good Doctor.
And given how prominent Fauci still is, it likely won’t be the last.
