“Follow the science” they tell us…except when it comes to political theater…because then you shouldn’t follow the science.
That is what Speaker Nancy Pelosi means by following the science. Empress Pelosi is fining members of the House who don’t wear their masks on the floor of the House chamber, despite most members of Congress being vaccinated.
Madam Speaker admonished the maskless reps when she said, “They are selfishly an endangerment to other people, including staff people here… We have a responsibility to make sure the House of Representatives chamber is not a petri dish…It is unfortunate that a large number of people in the Congress have refused to be vaccinated. Until they are vaccinated, we cannot have meetings without masks.”
Every person in Congress has had a chance to get a vaccine by now, and the overwhelming majority of House members have received the shot, so those who are protected by the vaccine should logically have nothing to worry about. This is yet another power play by Empress Pelosi.
Her insatiable thirst for power has led her to the false conclusion that masks are required to prevent the House chamber from becoming a “petri dish.” There is no data to back that statement up, but she just wants to maintain her iron grip on the House of Representatives.
With Pelosi, every decision she makes is about increasing her power over Congress, and she will do just about anything to keep her spot at the top of the pile.
She is a woman of her word when it comes to fining members of Congress for not wearing masks.
Fox News reported, “four GOP House members were fined $500 for going maskless on the House floor: Reps. Brian Mast of Florida, Beth Van Duyne of Texas, Mariannette Miller-Meeks of Iowa and Ralph Norman of South Carolina. The number ticked up to six by Thursday with Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., and Thomas Massie, R-Ky., also getting fined after ignoring their warnings from the previous day.”
This is coming from the same speaker who previously threatened to not sit a duly elected Congresswoman from Iowa. I must have missed the part in the Constitution where it said that the Speaker of the House could unilaterally decide who gets to be seated in Congress and can fine whoever they want to with impunity.
In March, Empress Pelosi bragged that she was nice enough to seat an elected congresswoman from Iowa name Mariannette Miller-Meeks, who won by a razor-thin margin of six votes.
Pelosi said, “Now if I wanted to be unfair, I wouldn’t have seated the Republican from Iowa, because that was my right on the opening day. I would have just said, ‘You’re not seated.’ And that would have been my right as Speaker to do. But we didn’t want to do that. We just said, ‘Let’s just go through this process.’”
Nancy Pelosi is a walking billboard for term limits. No member of Congress should wield that much power without facing repercussions.
It is imperative that the GOP take back the House in 2022 and finally wrest the gavel away from Speaker Pelosi.
In the meantime, more Congresspeople may find themselves $500 short if they want to breathe freely again.
