You know, when Conservatives are discussing Liberals and liberalism, we’re very opinionated about their way of thinking.
To be completely honest, we don’t hold back at all. We let loose on them with both barrels for some of the idiotic rules, laws, and policies they love to enact.
We’ve discussed it ad nauseam, but it’s worth saying again: Liberals care less about justice than they do about optics or virtue signaling.
For those on the Left, it’s more important to SEEM compassionate with the policies and laws they create than it is to be fair and just with the entire population.
They love to cater to the smallest segments of our society in order to make it look like they care.
Now, that would be fine if they followed through and complied with their own freaky rules…
But when the rubber meets the road, those on the Left want the rest of the population to follow the letter of the law while they themselves get to do whatever they want.
Liberals LOVE Rules
We’ve seen this highlighted during the pandemic especially, with Liberal governors and mayors pleading for their constituents to stay home and avoid family gatherings while they’ve all been eating dinners with donors and inviting their entire brood to celebrate Thanksgiving.
The hypocrisy is real and hits us in the face like a sledgehammer.
But as if that weren’t bad enough, there are other rules that so incredibly stupid that we can’t help but make fun of them unmercifully. Take, for example, this new rule in Ohio High School Athletics that’ll just makes your scratch your head in disbelief.
Now, high school wrestling is more than a sport in the northeast. In fact, it’s practically a religion.
Thousands of kids take to the mats every year in hopes of becoming the very best in their district, then their region, and then finally their state.
There’s always a lot riding on it, so it’s good that the Ohio High School Athletic Association is allowing this sport to take place, even during what some say is the worst time for close-quarters grappling.
However, there’s a small rule that the OHSAA has put in place that is so unbelievably stupid that it makes you wonder how many of them actually have a brain.
Get this: the wrestlers can participate in the sport as usual, but they can’t shake hands before or after the match.
Two young athletes on the mats can throw each other around, scramble with each other, and try pin each other on the mats, all while sweating and breathing heavily—but they can’t show common decency and good sportsmanship by shaking each other’s hands because that might get them sick.
The Lesson Of Freedom And Personal Sovereignty
Does this make ANY sense?
I get not shaking hands with the coaches, officials, or referees to limit exposure…
But if you’re already wrestling somebody, the last thing you need to worry about is keeping yourself “safe” by not shaking hands.
This is why it’s hard for many on the Right to take people on the Left seriously.
When you don’t use logic to come up with rules and policies and are only thinking about optics, then it’s clear that you don’t really care about what’s going on.
However, we have to look at the bright side…
At least these young men (and women too, believe it or not) are getting the chance to compete in the sport they love.
It’s just too bad that opportunity comes at the expense of liberty and personal sovereignty.
Hopefully, they can take these lessons forward and be stronger than the generation in charge of things today.
“I see the liberty of the individual not only as a great moral good in itself (or, with Lord Acton, as the highest political good), but also as the necessary condition for the flowering of all the other goods that mankind cherishes: moral virtue, civilization, the arts and sciences, economic prosperity. Out of liberty, then, stem the glories of civilized life.” – Murray N. Rothbard
