On Monday, the New York Times published a story recapping the remarks President Trump made that morning about the horrific shootings in El Paso and Dayton.
Trump told the nation:
“Together, we lock arms to shoulder the grief, we ask God in Heaven to ease the anguish of those who suffer, and we vow to act with urgent resolve.
In one voice, our nation must condemn racism, bigotry, and white supremacy. These sinister ideologies must be defeated. Hate has no place in America.
Now is the time to set destructive partisanship aside—so destructive—and find the courage to answer hatred with unity, devotion, and love.”
That is an appropriate statement on the president’s part.
The New York Times published a headline that captured the true nature of the president’s remarks: “TRUMP URGES UNITY VS. RACISM.”
Who could possibly have a problem with that statement?
The leftist mob.
And that mob includes presidential candidates as well.
Lagging in the polls, Beto O’Rourke retweeted the headline and said simply, “unbelievable.”
Spartacus Cory Booker wrote, “lives literally depend on you doing better, NYT. Please do.”
Bill de Blasio, Mayor of New York City, tweeted, “The Truth is worth it? Not the truth. Not worth it.”
The irrelevant and annoying Kirsten Gillibrand said, “that’s not what happened.”
Everyone’s favorite millennial socialist, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, tweeted, “Let this front page serve as a reminder of how white supremacy is aided by-and often relies upon-the cowardice of mainstream institutions.”
You can probably see where this is going.
If you guessed that the NYT changed their headline, then you’d be correct.
They bent the knee to the leftist mob almost immediately and changed the headline to read “ASSAILING HATE BUT NOT GUNS.”
Anything Trump says—even when he says things they want him to say—is not good enough for the Left.
He condemned white supremacy and racism, but that wasn’t good enough. He didn’t call for extreme gun control laws, and they hated him for it.
The writers at The New York Times acted like cowards. They showed they have no spine and won’t do anything that would offend the left-wing mob, even if that thing is telling the truth.
Their coverage of the two mass shootings has been awful.
Before the bodies were even identified, they tried to tie the rhetoric of President Trump to the killings in El Paso, while largely ignoring the left-wing radical who killed 9 and injured 27 in the Dayton shootings.
The Times’ coverage has been appalling; they are more concerned with blaming Trump for the El Paso killings than reporting on the victims.
Some of the headlines read: “When the President is a Bigot, the poison spreads,” “Trump’s A White Nationalist Who Inspires Terrorism,” “Trump Condemns White Supremacy But Stops Short Of Major Gun Controls,” and “El Paso Shooting Suspects Manifesto Echoes Trump’s Language.”
The New York Times keeps embarrassing themselves with junk articles that are more divisive than what they accuse President Trump of saying. Michelle Goldberg and Charles Blow are the worst. Those two have never seen a conservative they don’t think is racist or a white supremacist.
It is getting to be a tired act.
