We may have a star in the making in the form of new White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany. In a little over a month, she’s shown a kind of grit and toughness that few others in her position have had. She’s always prepared for almost ANY question that the White House Press Corps fire at her, leaving many journalists walking away empty-handed after trying to get their “gotcha” moment.

And I think we can all agree that they deserve it.

The White House Press Corp has gone from trying to cover important stories to fishing for sound bites—and they’re absolutely destroying the credibility of the American media industry in the process.

And yet they wonder why the president has called them the “enemy of the people.” They no longer care about getting the truth. Their only priority is making headlines themselves.

But it seems that McEnany may singlehandedly change that current trend. The more she’s able to shut these reporters down, the more they’re actually forced to report the truth.

She has a way of turning their questions back onto them, putting THEM in the hot seat—and it’s glorious!

When Preparation Meets Opportunity

McEnany has done this multiple times since taking over the job in April, and she just did it again, making the reporters in the room look ridiculous and, even better, putting Chris “Fredo” Cuomo in his place.

NBC News reporter Kristen Welker recently questioned McEnany over Trump’s announcement that he was taking hotly-debated medication hydroxychloroquine, despite only anecdotal evidence of it efficacy against the virus. Welker was trying to catch McEnany off-guard, but, of course, she was ready for it—and unfortunately for Chris Cuomo, he got thrown under the bus for this journalist’s attempt at a gotcha moment.

“You had Chris Cuomo saying ‘the president knows that hydroxychloroquine is not supported by science. He knows it has been flagged by his own people and he’s using it.’ Well, Cuomo mocked the president for this,” McEnany said. “And interestingly I found this out just before coming here, ‘Hydroxychloroquine, of course, is an FDA-approved medication with a long-proven track record for safety.’ It turns out that Chris Cuomo took a less safe version of it called quinine — which the FDA removed from the market in 2006 for its serious side effects, including death. So, really interesting to have that criticism of the president.”

In the words of the late, great Stuart Scott: “And the dynamite goes boom.”

If this were an NBA game, Kayleigh would have just dunked the ball in Fredo’s surprised face.

Making Hypocrites Look Like, Well… Hypocrites

But she wasn’t done there…

“On that note to Chris Cuomo, I’d like to redirect him to his brother, the governor of New York,” she said. “Gov. [Andrew] Cuomo, who has several on-the-record statements about hydroxychloroquine, saying ‘I’m an optimist, I’m hopeful about the drug, and that’s why we will try it in New York as soon as we get it. There has been anecdotal evidence that it’s promising, that’s why we’re going ahead.’ I have about eight other quotes from Gov. Cuomo, should any of you have interest in that.”

Of course, none of the reporters pushed on that issue after that.

But McEnany making Chris Cuomo look like an idiot for criticizing Trump while himself taking a more dangerous form of the drug and giving his brother a free pass for praising hydroxychloroquine is the perfect response to this question.

It’s such a nuanced and subtle putdown, but it’s so absolute in its destruction of Cuomo’s political agenda that it deserves some kind of award.

Kayleigh is KILLING it as the new Press Secretary, and we can only hope she stays on all the way through Trump’s second term.

Keep doing what you’re doing, Kayleigh…

You’re awesome!
