The day has come for Arizona officials to release the results of the state GOP-backed election audit after several months of controversy surrounding the investigation.

Perhaps now that Maricopa County’s 2.1 million ballots cast in the 2020 presidential election have undergone a full forensic audit, Arizonans will finally have answers regarding the alleged voter fraud that many Republicans believe influenced the results.

But, if other reports that have circulated this month are true—such as the rumor that multi-state “ballot trafficking” occurred—Arizona officials may not have the conclusive results they were looking for.

Nevertheless, the Arizona state Senate announced last week that it will release the Maricopa County election audit results on Friday, Sept. 24 during a public hearing at 1:00 p.m. MT.

A spokeswoman for the GOP-led Arizona Senate told CBS, “The report will be presented on the Senate floor and will be open to the media. Although Arizona’s election results were already certified, six months ago, the Republican-controlled state Senate in Arizona undertook a full hand recount and review of the ballots and voting machines in Maricopa, the state’s largest county.”

Maricopa was famously one of the most contested counties after using Dominion voting machines to tabulate ballots despite thousands of reported discrepancies.

“By subpoena, the state Senate took possession of 2.1 million ballots and nearly 400 election machines and turned them over to be audited by companies that include one whose CEO promoted debunked election fraud theories after the election,” she said referring to Cyber Ninjas, an independent auditor based in Florida, which received backlash for having a CEO that believes voter fraud swayed the election results.

Arizona Senate President Karen Fann said she is looking “forward to getting our final questions answered and wrapping up the review of the election in Maricopa County.”

The highly-anticipated election audit results come as several other states have announced they are moving forward with their own election audits which, if they come to fruition, could result in a domino effect for nationwide audits.

If they find conclusive evidence that the election belonged to Donald Trump, America will find itself in uncharted waters.
