Imagine if you needed to watch EVERY thing you said in order to NOT have your life taken from you?
It sounds very 1984ish or even “Fahrenheit 451”-ish…
Keep your words in check.
Don’t be open…
Don’t be honest…
Because if you do – you’ll lose your livelihood, your social standing and maybe even money.
We’ve seen it happen…
We’re living in the time of cancel culture – where people get their entire lives turned upside down because they do or say the wrong thing to the wrong people.
Think about what happened to Roseanne Barr when she mistakenly called former Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett “Planet of the Apes” – she was called a racist for this, even though she wasn’t aware that Jarrett was of African descent.
We’ve seen people try to cancel Kanye West for what he’s said about black voters and his support for Donald Trump…
We’ve seen people try to cancel Dave Chappelle for what he’s said in his comedy special…
They don’t stop.
The Left Will Cancel ANYBODY!
If they don’t agree with what is said – they begin to boycott and try to get whatever that offender said canceled.
We expected to see it happen to people on the Right…
Just the other night, actor Vince Vaughn shook President Trump’s hand in a press box and the world blew up (well, at least Twitter did) and the people started ragging on Vince Vaughn … hard.
But we expected this…
What we didn’t expect is to see them do it to their own people.
Stephen King is a literary legend – responsible for some of the greatest horror stories of all time…
And he’s an EXTREME Leftist.
He hates Trump, loves the Bern and can’t stand Conservatives.
His outspoken Liberalism has cost him a LOT of Conservative fans – as he alienates them with his vitriol and anger toward the Right.
That being said, his recent words have the 72-year-old author on the cusp of becoming the next victim of the cancel culture.
What did he say?
Nothing outlandish – he was just being honest. And it could cost him BIG.
What did he say? Well, while talking about the lack of diversity at the Oscars, King explained how HE votes as part of the academy.
“As a writer, I am allowed to nominate in just 3 categories: Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Original Screenplay. For me, the diversity issue—as it applies to individual actors and directors, anyway—did not come up.”
Meaning he doesn’t get to vote for “Who’s” – just “what’s” – so diversity isn’t an issue when it comes to the categories he votes.
When Being Honest Goes Wrong
But then, he made the mistake of being honest when he tweeted, “I would never consider diversity in matters of art. Only quality. It seems to me that to do otherwise would be wrong.”
Well, you’d have thought that he dressed as Hitler and danced on a rainbow flag for the amount of flak he got.
Director Ava DuVernay said, “When you wake up, meditate, stretch, reach for your phone to check on the world and see a tweet from someone you admire that is so backward and ignorant you want to go back to bed.”
Fellow author Roxane Gay also chimed in, saying, “As a fan, this is painful to read from you. It implies that diversity and quality cannot be synonymous. They are not separate things. Quality is everywhere but most industries only believe in quality from one demographic. And now, here you are.”
Isn’t it ridiculous?
Comedian Tim Young summed it up best in his tweet, “Uh oh… Stephen King is against affirmative action??? I hope he’s ready to be canceled by all the people that LOVE him when he hates on Trump.”
What the Left is doing is ensuring that people will NOT be honest with them…
They’d rather hear what is acceptable rather than what is right – and that’s a problem.
When you can’t be honest out of fear of your life being taken from you…
There’s a BIG problem and the Left doesn’t care.
They’re completely fine with lying to each other in order to be seen as acceptable…
But don’t let their lie infect you.
We know the truth!
We know that honesty is and always will be the best policy and to say otherwise is weak and disingenuous…
And that’s not the conservative’s nature.
“Don’t bend; don’t water it down; don’t try to make it logical; don’t edit your own soul according to the fashion. Rather, follow your most intense obsessions mercilessly.” ― Franz Kafka
