Well, that didn’t take long.

On Saturday, President Trump nominated Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court. Trump barely finished pronouncing the last syllable of her name during the announcement before the Left launched the first volley of vile, vindicative, and appalling attacks against the new Justice, and there are likely many more volleys to come.

The Brett Kavanaugh hearings were just an appetizer, apparently. The replacement of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was always going to be the ground that the Left was willing to die on. Ginsburg has always been akin to a prophet to the Left, and many of them cried like they just lost their spouse or child when she passed away. Trump will be replacing a Liberal justice with an originalist one, which could potentially turn the court from a 5-4 liberal court to a 6-3 conservative one (assuming that Chief Justice Roberts holds the line, which is always a shaky proposition).

The social media mob was out in-full force upon learning who Trump was nominating to the highest court in the land. Dana Houle, a political consultant to many prominent Democrats, suggested that Judge Coney Barrett and her husband had adopted two children from Haiti illegally.

Houle unleashed the following vile attack on a lengthy Twitter thread: “I would love to know which adoption agency Amy Coney Barrett & her husband used to adopt the two children they brought here from Haiti…Some adoptions from Haiti were legit. Many were sketchy as hell.”

He went on to disparage the Barretts religious views, saying:

“Would it matter if her kids were scooped up by ultra-religious Americans, or Americans who weren’t scrupulous intermediaries & the kids were taken when there was family in Haiti? I dunno. I think it does, but maybe it doesn’t, or shouldn’t.”

When another person said that the attack on the Barrett family was “based on nothing but prejudice and bigotry,” Houle responded:

“Oh, just f—ing spare me. We don’t do foreign adoptions because it’s so difficult to avoid unethical adoptions.  Also people w[ith] bio kids shouldn’t be adopting children w[ith] whom they have no connection.

John Lee Brougher, the managing director of NextGen America, a progressive political action committee, tweeted,“[t]ransracial adoption is fraught with trauma and potential for harm, and everything I see here is deeply concerning.”

There is a word for this tweet thread: Racist.

“Transracial adoption is fraught with trauma… deeply concerning.” If that is not a racist statement, I am not sure what is. Because the Barretts adopted two Haitian children, they are going to be traumatized? The Barretts gave those children a life beyond their wildest imaginations by plucking them out of impoverished Haiti and bringing them to a land of freedom and abundance—and that has nothing to do with race. They should be celebrated for this, not derided.

The Dems had already been preparing for ACB’s eventual nomination for years. In 2017, they launched all-out anti-Catholic barrages at Judge Barrett, which she handled with class and intellectual agility.

During a 2017 hearing over Barrett’s nomination to the 7th Court of Appeals, Senator Dick Durban of Illinois asked ACB if she considered herself an orthodox Catholic, which is irrelevant and unconstitutional because it implies that there is a religious oath test for a government position.

Senator Dianne Feinstein took it a notch higher when she implied that ACB’s Catholic “dogma was strong within her.”

Despite Coney Barrett being a respected jurist and legal scholar, the Democrats will forgo any fair evaluation of her credentials to serve on the bench. She finished top of her class at Notre Dame Law School where she later taught and three times was named the best professor by her students.

Harvard law professor Noah Feldman, a liberal scholar, said in 2018 when she was under consideration for the Supreme Court seat before Brett Kavanaugh was given the nod: “There were just under 40 Supreme Court clerks in October Term 1998, none exactly a slouch. She was one of the two best lawyers of the 40—and arguably the single best. Any Senate Democrat who tries to go toe to toe with Barrett over her legal abilities is going to lose. Badly. She has only eight months’ experience on the court of appeals after a career as a law professor. But she was legally prepared enough to go on the court 20 years ago.”

Sadly, Professor Feldman’s opinions of ACB and those of many of her peers are irrelevant to the Democrats. Mother Theresa could have signed a similar applauding letter and the Left would lash out the same way.  Judge Amy Coney Barret’s only mistake is that she follows and interprets the Constitution the way it was written. The Left can’t allow that, and destroying the Constitution warrants them destroying anyone who wants to defend it.
