“Good paying, union jobs.”
Those were the words of Sleepy Joe Biden.
In fact, those were the words that won him the support of some of the biggest unions in America. Liberals love unions because they believe unionizing evens the playing ground between workers and owners.
However, all it really does is drive up prices of goods and services that are passed on to the consumer. Union workers demand higher wages, fewer hours, and more benefits in exchange for less effort and productivity…and the consumer suffers as a result.
I’m not saying that unions weren’t a good thing back in the day.
They were good—very good—but that was before the Department of Labor started to do the job of protecting the American worker.
Unions were integral in getting the protections in place that are now a part of labor laws and policy, and it was these unions that Biden appealed to in order to get their support for the 2020 election.
Unions are Liberal by their very nature, and even though their ranks are made up of plenty of patriots, many people vote with their wallets and not their conscience.
Biden promised these labor unions tons of cash in government-guaranteed jobs in order to win their vote.
And win them he did…
But those promises evaporated quickly.
How Biden Repaid Unions
On day one in office, he killed the development plans for the Keystone Oil Pipeline, ending at least 1,000 active union jobs and up to 60,000 other jobs (be they union or otherwise) that would have been indirectly involved with the project.
The company behind it, TC Energy, has been fighting to get those permits reinstated in an effort to keep the project alive and those working on it employed.
But at long last, the company formally terminated the pipeline on June 9th, just over four months after President Joe Biden canceled the job-producing project.
For all intents and purposes, the Keystone Pipeline is now officially dead.
(Or, at least it’s dead for the next four years. If a certain Conservative gets elected in 2024, that may change.)
Now that it’s official, Sleepy Joe Biden has killed over 60,000 American jobs all because of the optics.
In a statement, TC Energy said, “Construction activities to advance the Project were suspended following the revocation of its Presidential Permit on January 20, 2021. The Company will continue to coordinate with regulators, stakeholders and Indigenous groups to meet its environmental and regulatory commitments and ensure a safe termination of and exit from the Project.”
What’s worse is that this pipeline was good for EVERYBODY, even the indigenous people who were actively trying to get the project shut down.
On top of that, what really gets your noodle baking is the fact that Biden’s Secretary of Energy, Jennifer Granholm, recently acknowledged that pipelines are the safest way to transport oil…and so did Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg.
The Fallout Of Joe’s Decision
Of course, Biden’s decision has outraged the unions that supported him, especially seeing as the Keystone XL provided some of those “good paying, union jobs” that he promised from “green” energy.
Of course, climate change “czar” John Kerry claimed laid-off workers would find “better” jobs—though doing what exactly, we have no idea.
It’s not like your average pipeline worker is also qualified to install solar panels or build windmills right off the bat.
When will the Left acknowledge that NOW is not the time to move away from fossil fuels?
Sure, it’s a goal—and believe it or not, it’s a goal that Conservatives have too—but we’re waiting for the right time to move away from fossil fuels, which will only happen when renewables are more viable.
Right now, they’re not.
When the technology allows for it to be a smooth transition, believe me, we’ll be all for it.
Until then, we NEED oil.
Just like Russia does…
Which makes one wonder why Biden would approve of the Russian Nord Steam II gas pipeline from Russia to Europe.
Maybe he IS okay with pipelines…but only as long as they DON’T benefit America.
