On Tuesday, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough claimed that the January 6th Capitol Hill riot was worse than any of the BLM attacks on private businesses and everyday American citizens.
This shouldn’t be a surprising statement coming from a media establishment figure who once claimed to be a Republican. Scarborough said the following on his MSNBC morning program on Tuesday:
“I know there are idiots on other cable news channels that will say, ‘Well, this mom-and-pop store was vandalized during the summer riots, and that’s just as bad as the United States Capitol being vandalized.’
The Capitol of the United States of America is the center of American democracy. And while I am a fierce believer in people’s right to defend their private property, I’m not going to confuse a taco stand with the United States Capitol. I’m not going to confuse the selling of tacos with actually moving through a constitutional process that is laid out in the United States Constitution for members of the House and the Senate to actually perform their constitutional duties. No. No. No. Property damage does not equal insurrection.”
Scarborough went onto add that “No, jackass… I’m not going to confuse a taco stand with the United States Capitol.”
“Jack Ass, and “idiots.” Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
Scarborough’s comments are telling and perfectly represent the viewpoint of the liberal elites—and even some Republican establishment figures—who view the state as more important than the lives of American citizens.
They fail to understand that the purpose of the state is to protect private property, and protecting the rights of everyday Americans is just as important as protecting the United States Capitol building…if not more so.
That “taco stand” that the Morning Joe host referred to is just as important as the Capitol building. Americans have freedom to make a living for themselves and to carry out their dreams as long as those dreams don’t infringe on the liberty of another. That is purpose of the American founding in a nutshell.
Scarborough’s contempt for those in “flyover country” is astounding. Statists like Scarborough think they know what’s best for the rest of us plebians and, if we only lived our lives the way they want us to, all would be well in the world.
Well, the Founders of this country would despise people like Scarborough. They created a federalist system in which the people were free to choose their own course in life without being dictated to by a monarch or a demagogue.
They decentralized power away from the nation’s capital. The states created the federal government, not the other way around.
The Founders would be appalled that so much power had been taken away from the states by the Federal Government.
It is because of that power that the United States Capitol has essentially been deemed a sacred temple by the statists. It is the modern-day equivalent of Solomon’s Temple to them.
For the one-thousandth time, let me repeat: The January 6th attack on the Capitol was an abomination. Those who committed violence and vandalized the Capitol should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
But that doesn’t make the U.S. Capitol any more important than any other building in America. It isn’t St. Peter’s Cathedral at the Vatican, or Buckingham Palace in England. In America, we don’t believe that government buildings are holy ground, but rather that they are no different from the houses that we live in or the buildings we work in.
To believe otherwise is antithetical to the American founding.
This isn’t a monarchal system. In America, We the People are supposed to rule.
So, yes, Joe, a taco stand is just as important to protect as the United States Capitol building.
Look in the mirror, Joe. You are the one who is the jack ass here. Not the owner of the taco stand.
