On Wednesday, a horrific mass shooting occurred at a light-rail yard in San Jose, California, resulting in the deaths of ten people, including the gunman (name withheld as per FreedomWire’s policy of not naming mass shooter), who took his own life.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families at this difficult time (though I am sure this triggered some liberals who deride those who send their “thoughts and prayers following mass shootings.)

Not missing a chance to politized the tragedy, California Governor Gavin Newsom metaphorically stood on the bodies of those killed just hours before to…you guessed it…push for gun control.

Instead of keeping politics out of it and honoring the victims and the first responders who were heroes, Newsom paid lip service to them and then pivoted to the same tired lines advocating gun control.

Newsom said the following at a press conference addressing the shooting:

“When are we going to come to grips with this? When are we going to put down our arms, literally and figuratively, our politics, the stale rhetoric, finger-pointing, all the hand-wringing, consternation that produces nothing except more fury and frustration, more scenes like this repeated over and over and over again. It is time to take a little damn responsibility, all of us, and move beyond the platitudes and usual rhetoric that come after a mass shooting.”

It is ironic that Newsom said we shouldn’t be talking politics. After all, he was using the occasion to talk politics…pretty aggressively, I might add.

The murder weapons used by the killer were two pistols, which will poke a hole in the Democrat narrative that so-called “assault rifles” should be banned in the US, rendering the tragedy obsolete for Democrats, and their media allies will likely forget the story in days. If the killed used a rife, no doubt, they would continue to flood the news cycle with the story.

Newsom wasn’t the only person to opine about politics after the shooting. The President of the United States weighed in, too. He just couldn’t help himself.

President Biden urged Congress to “take immediate action and heed the call of the American people, including the vast majority of gun owners, to help end this epidemic of gun violence in America.”

Governor Newsom might not be governor for much longer as he will face a recall election to determine whether he will continue in his current role or will be relegated to the ash heap of history.

Earlier in the day, Newsom received more bad news when he was ordered to pay a fine to Harvest Rock Church in Pasadena for his unconstitutional religious worship lockdown. A judge fined him a whopping $1.35 million for his violation of First Amendment freedom of religion.

It couldn’t happen to a worse governor…though who the worst governor in America is, is in the eye of the beholder.

It has been a bad week for authoritarian governors, as Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is facing a fine for violating her own capacity limit on restaurants, and New York Governor continues to push back against calls for his ouster as governor for the nursing home cover-up.

The clock is ticking on the governorship of Gavin Newsom…
