Did you ever think you’d live in an America where your 1st Amendment rights would be danced upon by both the law and the court system?

America exists for two things…

Freedom and opportunity.

The first settlers came here hoping to get away from the religious oppression that was taking place in England during the 17th Century.

Being able to worship God in the way they saw fit was the reason they risked their lives, spent almost two months at sea, and carved a home out of the rough wilderness that was America in 1607.

It wasn’t easy…

But it was worth it to them. Freedom to say, think, feel whatever they wanted—whether about religion or any other subject—was worth the danger.

About 165 years later…

Those freedoms were being threatened again. The British monarchy sought to tax their colonial citizens at higher rates without giving them the means to defend their position in court.

It led to the first shots of the Revolutionary war…

And the creating of the great country you’re lucky enough to be living in today (or lucky enough to enjoy the freedoms our military affords you under its protection).

However…

Those first colonists and our Founding Fathers would be appalled at what’s happening in 21st Century America.

Liberals Twisting Justice To Meet Their Needs

Some states (*cough*… California) and others are making a mess of the US Constitution by allowing people to be jailed for words.

Even though the 1st Amendment of the Constitution affords Americans the right to say whatever they wish without fear of reprisal by law enforcement…

It’s happening.

In California, if you misgender somebody on purpose—meaning if they’re transgender and you call them a word like “man,” “dude,” or “miss” that corresponds with their biological gender and not their preferred identity—you can now be fined for doing so. Whether your “misgendering” was intentional or not, the consequences still stand—and if the fine isn’t paid, then the guilty party could face actual jail time.

But that’s not it…

Because now people are going to jail for burning flags—and too bad for them it wasn’t the American flag, or else they’d be given a handshake by local authorities.

Think about it…

How many times have you seen ANTIFA burn the American flag? You’d think that if there were ANY flag that should be illegal to burn, it would be that one.

But it’s not – and it shouldn’t be illegal, as much as we true patriots might despise it. It’s freedom of expression to burn a flag…

Unless it’s a flag propped up by the Left.

When You Burn The Wrong Flag – You Go To JAIL

Adolfo Martinez, an Iowa man, is finding that out first-hand as he just got sentenced to 15 years in prison for stealing and burning a church’s rainbow LGBT pride flag.

15 years.

Now, we don’t agree with Mr. Martinez’s motivations—as he said he doesn’t agree with LGBT lifestyles—but that doesn’t mean we don’t also support his right to freedom of expression.

Now, the problem Martinez is having is that he stole the flag off a church and then burned it because of his belief…

Doing these things independently of each other isn’t a crime deserving of 15 years in prison. However, the fact that he stole it and THEN burned it has moved it from the realm of petty crimes and misdemeanors up to a hate crime.

Add that to the fact that he’s already got two felonies on his record and he falls under the “three-strikes law”…

But still… this shouldn’t be a felony conviction. In fact, the man’s behavior that night suggested he was drunk, high on drugs, or suffering from mental issues.

It’s a travesty of justice WITHOUT those things taken into account…

With them, it’s a stain on the Iowan justice system.

However…

This isn’t surprising, is it?

We knew this was the direction they were headed…

They just got there sooner than we thought they would.
