Now that President Trump is about to exit stage left, the coastal elites in their ivory towers are going after their ultimate target all along: those of us who voted for President Trump.
Trump was never their real target, but the 74 million of us who voted for the president were. Trump just got in the way of the bullets intended for us.
Exhibit A: recent statements from CNN’s Don Lemon.
The gloves are off, and the media elites are out in the open now about their disdain for Trump supporters in fly-over country.
Resident CNN Jackass Don Lemon equated anyone who voted for President Trump with the KKK, Nazis, and the Alt-Right.
Way to unify the country, Donny. Attacking 74 million Americans is a great way to bring the country together. Well done.
Lemon said the following on CNN this week, as reported by Fox News:
“If you voted for Trump, you voted for the person who the Klan supported. You voted for the person who Nazis support. You voted for the person who the alt-right supports. You voted for the person who incited a crowd to go into the Capitol and potentially take the lives of lawmakers … You voted on that side, and the people in Washington are continuing to vote on that side,” Lemon explained to his colleague Chris Cuomo.
“I truly believe that, 100%,” Lemon told Cuomo. “They are allowed to their own opinion. It doesn’t mean that they’re right, but they’re allowed to their own opinion and I believe what I said last night.”
“Those people voted the way you voted and who you voted for, I’m just saying,” Lemon dismissed Cuomo’s tepid defense of Trump voters. “It puts you in the same crowd … You vote for people who have common interests. If someone has a common interest, people who vote like you have a common interest as you. That’s just how it is … That’s how political affiliation works.”
“Well … it also means that you share something with that person and you must own up to it,” Lemon shot back. “And we have to stop giving people an out for people who represent the worst behavior. Stop trying to make an excuse for people who voted for someone who has those beliefs, [where] you may think you don’t believe that, but in a way, what are you doing? You’re complicit with it because you are voting for the same type of person.”
I don’t know about you, but I didn’t vote for Trump because the KKK or Nazis supported him. I voted for him in large part because he fought back against media establishment figures like Don Lemon.
Maybe that’s why he hates those of us who support Trump: we support a candidate who doesn’t roll over and cower before the dishonest media.
For too long, Republican leaders like George W. Bush and Mitt Romney tried to appease the press and let them have their way, refusing didn’t stand up to the media establishment for the rest of us.
Trump has done the exact opposite, and that has broken the brains of talking heads like Don Lemmon— that is assuming he has a brain at all.
What people like Lemmon don’t realize is that, by continuing to attack Trump supporters, he has made it more likely that Trump will return in 2024. He is the only Republican who will fight back against the media establishment who despise GOP voters, and they will feel the need to support Trump again.
So, go ahead and continue the volleys at Trump supporters, Don…but you do so at your own peril. We aren’t going anywhere, and either is Donald Trump.
