There is so much about the Constitution that the Left doesn’t understand…

Basically EVERYTHING about the document and the way it’s set up goes right over their heads.

They don’t seem to understand that our liberties are set up in a delicate balance and that the Bill of Rights are the ballasts we need to ensure the structure stays upright.

The Bill of Rights is what makes an American free…

But none of them are more important than the first two amendments to the Constitution.

The First Amendment, which protects our freedom of speech, is the ULTIMATE expression of liberty. Speech is thought, and the fact that the government can’t control our speech means they can’t control our thoughts – something that is ESSENTIAL to truly being FREE.

However…

The First Amendment wouldn’t have lasted long without being backed up by the Second.

Why We NEED The 2nd Amendment

Let’s be frank…

The Second Amendment is a threat. Not towards American values, but a threat against tyranny.

It reminds the government that they do not RULE the people; they govern FOR the people – and if the people choose to do so, can remove them from their position of power if they tries to oppress us or start taking away our rights.

While the First Amendment may be the most important…

It would just be words without the Second Amendment giving it credence.

Conservatives understand this point…

Leftists and liberals do not.

Every time a mass shooting happens, the Left loves to attack guns while the Right loves to deflect their attacks by standing behind the Second Amendment – and it’s worked wonderfully so far…

Which may be why the Left has had to switch up their attack over the past couple of years. Now, they’re attacking the Amendment itself, not just guns.

If they’re not calling for its all-out abolishment, they’re trying to change the understanding of what it really means…

And their “go-to” attack is to say that the Second Amendment ONLY applies to militias, which would mean that the “Right to Bear Arms” applies only to the state’s national guard.

They’re wrong…

Though it’s easy to see how they make that mistake. The amendment actually reads, “A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

So, technically speaking, the amendment is referring to militias.

Doesn’t mean they’re not still wrong though…

And if you’re wondering how we know this, we need look no further than the Constitutions of individual states that were ratified at about the same time.

PROOF That Our Right To Bear Arms Is An AMERICAN Right!

They used the US Constitution as a framework and their wording was based on what they understood the Constitution was saying.

For example, Vermont’s Constitution says that citizens, “have a right to bear arms for the defense of themselves and the State.”

Of THEMSELVES and the state…

And while Vermont has since gone pretty liberal, that part is still included.

And Vermont isn’t the only one…

Connecticut’s Constitution does the same – and just like Vermont’s, Connecticut’s DOESN’T mention the word “militia”.

Connecticut’s Constitution says, “Every citizen has a right to bear arms in defense of himself and the state.”

And…

In case there was ANY doubt, George Mason, one of the more prominent of the founding fathers said, “As a political gesture to the Anti-Federalists, a gesture highlighted by the Second Amendment’s prefatory reference to the value of a well-regulated militia, express recognition of the right to arms was something of a sop. But the provision was easily accepted because everyone [italics in original] agreed that the federal government should not have the power to infringe the right of the people to keep and bear arms, any more than it should have the power to abridge the freedom of speech or prohibit the free exercise of religion.”

There you have it…

Right from the horse’s mouth.

End of discussion…

The Left may want and may TRY to take away guns – but this little amendment ensures they’ll fail.

And that’s lucky for THEM too…

Because if the government turns tyrannical, they’ll be grateful we kept our weapons safe.

Like little children, we have to protect them from themselves.

“What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance. Let them take arms.” – Thomas Jefferson
