Ever since the pandemic started, the vast majority of Floridians have LOVED the job that Ron DeSantis has done.
He’s blended the goal of keeping his citizens safe with the promise of keeping them FREE by strictly sticking to the “two weeks to stop the spread” plan.
Unlike many other state governors that used the pandemic to grab power on a monstrous scale, DeSantis began reopening once the worst was behind us.
At the peak of the pandemic, there were two governors whose names constantly grabbed the headlines, and the one you supported was determined by your political leanings. If you were a Conservative, then DeSantis, an elected leader that put his citizens’ freedoms above everything else, was your guy.
If you leaned to the Left, you were told to love “America’s governor” Andrew Cuomo, whose somber press conferences earned him an Emmy for keeping people informed.
However, if you compare Florida and New York’s COVID responses, it was easy to see that DeSantis’ strategy worked much better than Cuomo’s. DeSantis didn’t force nursing homes to take COVID-positive patients back into the facilities, he reopened before the economy tanked, and he didn’t push for more government power.
There also weren’t any allegations of sexual assault against him, so that helped too.
However, Cuomo held beautiful COVID briefings that eventually won him an Emmy—an honest-to-God Emmy—for the way he talked to reporters, saying all the right things that woke mainstream media outlets wanted to hear…all while doing the wrong things.
Ronny D Reveals His Future Plans
But Cuomo is now a distant memory, forced to resign after allegations of sexual impropriety started mounting—and it even cost him his Emmy!
Yet Ron DeSantis is still standing, and he’s standing strong—which is why there have been some rumors swirling about whether he’ll continue his gubernatorialship over Florida or move north to Washington, DC to make America as free as Florida.
For the better part of a year, people have been eager for a 2024 run from Ronny D. America could sure use the brand of leadership that he brings to the table, even with the shadow of one Donald J Trump looming over the country.
I have to tell you, it would be a HARD decision for this Conservative to pick which man to vote for if DeSantis and Trump had to go against each other during the nomination run.
However, it seems that’s not something we’re going to have to worry about for now. Yesterday, DeSantis revealed his future plans—and he also addressed what he doesn’t plan on doing.
During a press conference, DeSantis addressed the rumors when he told those in attendance, “All the speculation about me is purely manufactured. I just do my job. You know, we work hard. Obviously, our state has led on a lot of things including this [COVID response] and now other states are copying us. But that’s what it’s really all about, just helping folks here. I hear all this stuff and honestly it’s nonsense. So, you know, I really don’t know what to say to those rumors.”
There you have it, straight from the horse’s mouth.
DeSantis will be staying put in Florida.
Ron’s not running…or WILL he?
While he might not be running for the presidency, there could be another role in which he might find himself.
Trump has suggested in the past that he would DEFINITELY consider DeSantis for his running mate, even though the former president himself hasn’t accounded if he’s going to run again.
Maybe the plan is for Ronny D to get four years of national and global politics under his belt in the #2 seat before taking over in 2028?
Regardless, as a Floridian, I want him to stay right here.
Let Trump run the country in 2024. He’ll pick a strong running mate and destroy Biden…and then we can worry about 2028.
“If you look at Washington right now, we do not have a system that the Founding Fathers envisioned, where people go to Washington and be part of the servant class. Instead, we have a permanent political class that fashions itself the rulers of the people.” – Ron DeSantis
