The Democrats have a severe case of impeachment fever, and it’s spreading rapidly. The only known remedy is to defeat them at the ballot box in 2020.
They recently voted to impeach President Trump on two charges: Obstruction of Congress and abuse of power.
One would think that that would be enough for them.
However, the leading symptom of impeachment fever is constantly finding new things to add to the impeachment list—and that’s exactly what they’re doing.
That’s right. The Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee are seeking to compel the testimony of former White House Counsel Don McGahn. Furthermore, the Dems are seeking secret grand jury material from former Special Counsel Robert Mueller.
Apparently, they can’t take no for an answer. The Mueller Report concluded that Trump did NOT collude with Russia to win the 2016 election.
Democrats are like a band that’s past its prime; they only play their greatest hits and never come up with anything original (although, in the case of the Dems, they play their greatest hoaxes).
Fox News reported, “While the Mueller probe never factored into the impeachment articles that were adopted, House Democrats’ counsel Douglas Letter argued that McGahn’s testimony is still vital—and could even be relevant to “consideration of whether to recommend additional articles of impeachment” against Trump.
“If McGahn’s testimony produces new evidence supporting the conclusion that President Trump committed impeachable offenses that are not covered by the Articles approved by the House, the Committee will proceed accordingly—including, if necessary, by considering whether to recommend new articles of impeachment,” the brief stated, noting that they still have “ongoing impeachment investigations…
The House Judiciary Committee is seeking the secret grand jury material from Mueller’s investigation. Such material is generally secret, according to the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure, which specify certain exceptions including judicial proceedings.”
The Democrats are the ones who are abusing their power here, not Trump. They have turned an entire chamber of Congress into a political retribution office. They have hijacked the House of Representatives and are using the levers of government to target a political opponent.
It’s ironic that they are abusing power in a similar fashion for which they have passed articles of impeachment against President Trump.
If they retain the House in 2020 and President Trump is reelected, this is likely to continue until 2024 when he leaves the White House. The Framers of the Constitution feared that the impeachment process could be abused for political purposes. Their worst fears are being realized today by the Democrats. Fortunately, the Founders were wise enough to make it difficult for a president to be removed from office in a Senate trial.
The Founders set a high bar for removal in the Senate by requiring 3/4th of the Senate chamber to vote to remove a president. The House served as the grand jury, and the Senate would play the part of the jury trial.
The Democrats are setting a dangerous precedent for future administrations. Both parties will now feel emboldened to use the House Chamber as a way to inflict punishment on the president of the opposing party. Entire presidential terms will be wrought with investigations and fishing expeditions by political opponents.
The American people will be forced to deal with similar spectacles in the future.
That is why it is important to not just pay attention to the Presidential campaign in 2020. We as Conservatives must also elect the right Congressman to office so the country isn’t put through two or even four more years of endless investigations and phony impeachments.
Fortunately, WE the PEOPLE have a way to punish the Democrats: We can vote them out of office in 2020.
Let’s make sure that happens.
