Man…

Talk about a mess! It seems that, if you were born before the year 1900 and have a statue built in your honor, Liberals are going to try and tear it down or deface it—regardless of whether you were a good person or not. In the Left’s eyes, if you were white and had a statue erected after your death, odds are you were some kind of racist or bigot.

For example…

Protesters in Philadelphia defaced a statue of famed abolitionist Matthias Baldwin, throwing red paint all over it and spray-painting the word “colonizer” on the pedestal.

An abolitionist.

This is just proof that these protestors have zero grasp on history…

Because if they did, they’d have not only left the statue of Matthias be, but they’d have given it a polishing. Back in his day, he put his own livelihood at risk to speak out against the evil practice.

But making America better isn’t their goal…

Destroying America and erasing our history IS.

It’s Not About Racism – It’s About Destroying History

They really don’t want to fix anything; they want to burn it all down and remake it in their Marxist image. This isn’t an assumption or conjecture…

This is STRAIGHT out of the mouths of the leadership of the Black Lives Matter organization, a militant fundraising arm for the Far Left.

That’s why they want to erase ANYTHING that goes against their “America is racist” narrative.

Their next target? The D.C. Emancipation Memorial depicting Lincoln guiding a former slave to freedom. The statue that has stood for over a century has come under fire by the Liberal mob that wants to tears it down due to the fact that the slave is on his knees.

But true to form, they know nothing about this statue—because if they did, they’d be giving it a good cleaning and celebrating it rather than trying to tear it down.

This memorial was paid for by freed slaves wanting to celebrate their freedom and the man that granted it to them.

The statue fund was started by Charlotte Scott, a freed slave who began with a contribution of $5 of her own money that she earned after being emancipated. Once the statue was paid for, it was erected in 1876, barely a decade after the end of the Civil War.

A Vision Of HOPE

At the dedication, the great statesman, abolitionist, and social reformer (and Republican) Frederick Douglas said, “We have done a good work for our race today. In doing honor to the memory of our friend and liberator, we have been doing highest honors to ourselves and those who come after us; we have been fastening ourselves to a name and fame imperishable and immortal; we have also been defending ourselves from a blighting scandal. When now it shall be said that the colored man is soulless, that he has no appreciation of benefits or benefactors; when the foul reproach of ingratitude is hurled at us, and it is attempted to scourge us beyond the range of human brotherhood, we may calmly point to the monument we have this day erected to the memory of Abraham Lincoln.”

It was a proud day for former slaves to see this statue erected in the honor of their freedom…

But the Left doesn’t know that – nor will they, as they’re trying to erase history, not learn from it.

They see this statue as offensive because the slave is on its knees in some form of subservience…

But that is far from the case.

As Marcia Cole, a member of the Female RE-Enactors of Distinction, puts it, “People tend to think of that figure as being servile but on second look you will see something different, perhaps. That man is not kneeling on two knees with his head bowed. He is in the act of getting up. And his head is up, not bowed, because he’s looking forward to a future of freedom.”

Exactly right…

This is a memorial that represents hope and a brighter tomorrow.

The Left can’t see that…

Because they don’t WANT to see that.

They don’t know their history…

And those that don’t know their history are doomed to repeat it.
