The Thanksgiving Grinch, Andrew Cuomo, has just ordered the limit of guests allowed in PRIVATE homes across his state in HUGE government overreach.

There is no clause in the Constitution that provides for private property rights to be violated in the event of a public health emergency…

But that hasn’t stopped Democrat governors like Andrew Cuomo, Gretchen Whitmer, and Gavin Newsome from doing just that – as they assert their power in some of the biggest government overreaches we’ve seen yet.

However, the worst so far, is Cuomo, the Thanksgiving Grinch, who has effectively cancelled Thanksgiving for MILLIONS of New Yorkers.

That’s right, the governor responsible for the deaths of TENS of thousands of senior citizens by ordering COVID positive residents back to their nursing homes is now deciding to limit how many people you may invite to your home to share a Thanksgiving turkey.

Breitbart reported, “New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) announced orders Wednesday slapping a ten-person cap on gatherings in private residences, including apartments and houses. That means that a lot of family plans for even small Thanksgiving dinners will have to be canceled or risk moving ahead in violation of state law.”

This is exactly why American history and civics need to be taught better in school as the Founding Fathers of this nation would be appalled at a unilateral crackdown on individual liberties by this one governor.

Our country was founded on the God-given right to personal property; the government was instituted for the purpose of protecting that property from harming others, not to usurp those rights. Governor Cuomo’s actions are exactly why the Founders diffused power in the hands of one entity and spread it around so that one man couldn’t behave like a tyrant.

James Madison once wrote that “Government is instituted to protect property of every sort; as well that which lies in the various rights of individuals, as that which the term particularly expresses. This being the end of government, that alone is a just government, which impartially secures to every man, whatever is his own.”

John Locke—who was a major influence on the Founding Founders—wrote, “The state of nature has a law of nature to govern it, which obliges every one: and reason, which is that law, teaches all mankind, who will but consult it, that being all equal and independent, no one ought to harm another in his life, liberty, or possessions.”

By dictating how many people are allowed in ones’ own home, Governor Cuomo is violating one of the most important precepts of our Founding. His actions are un-American.

Prior to the American Revolution, Americans were forced to quarter troops—the third amendment of the constitution outlaws this— as citizens had their property seized and destroyed.

You may say that this is an “apples to oranges” comparison. It isn’t. The principle of individual right to ownership undergirds both occurrences. An American has the right to use their possessions anyway they would like, as long as that usage doesn’t harm another citizen.

It’s that simple.

New Yorkers should ignore their governor and dare him to enforce his unconstitutional order. They should be appealing to their state representatives to check the power of the governor. The state legislatures in this country need to stop rolling over and letting these Leftist governors do whatever they please.

So, enjoy your Thanksgiving, New Yorkers, have double the mash potatoes and turkey in defiance of your governor…

As that would be a very American thing to do.
