“Sleepy” or “Creepy” Joe Biden (you decide your favorite nickname) has been dominating in the early Democratic primary polls. He has more than doubled his margin in national polls over Senator Bernie Sanders.
He has distanced himself from other far-left radical candidates such as Senators Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris.
Biden has been riding high on name recognition and is perceived as not being as far-left as his challengers.
However, he just proposed a radical climate plan to try and appeal to the far-left, Bernie Sanders/Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wing of the Democratic Party.
He wants to sit at the “cool kids” table by appealing to “woke,” socially conscious liberals. He wants to generate the same buzz as Ocasio-Cortez and her “Green New Deal.”
Don’t worry kids, “Creepy” Joe is here to save the planet.
Joe Biden’s Plan to Save the Planet
On Tuesday, the former vice president rolled out his plan to fight climate change.
Being that he is a Democrat, one would assume that it isn’t going to be cheap.
And it isn’t.
Biden’s climate plan would cost $1.7 trillion. That’s low for a Democratic proposal, and downright cheap compared to the Green New Deal’s estimated cost of $93 trillion dollars.
Biden is a real penny-pincher.
CNBC reported that Biden’s plan “aims to use federal investment to spur more than $5 trillion in state, local and private money for measures to address climate change, his campaign said. Biden would push for net-zero emissions by 2050, reenter the Paris climate accords and ban new oil and gas permits on public lands and waters, among other initiatives.”
Biden also threw a bone to the AOC wing by saying that the Green New Deal is “a crucial framework for meeting the climate challenges we face.”
Biden’s plan would also reinstate Obama administration rules that have been rolled back by the Trump administration, such as car fuel economy standards and methane emission regulations.
Somehow, Biden claims that pollution hurts minority communities more than whites. Of course, being a Democrat, he had to find a way to make the issue about race. His campaign said that polluting companies “disproportionately harm communities of color and low-income communities.”
How would Biden pay for his plan?
If you guessed “tax the rich,” you are correct.
It is always the Democrats’ solution to pay for their radical, budget-busting proposals.
Biden wants to repeal the Trump tax cut as a way to pay for his plan. That doesn’t make sense, because government revenue has increased since the tax cut. However, that conclusion was made using statistics and logic, two things Democrats are allergic to.
CNBC reported that “the former vice president’s campaign said it will fund clean energy research by reversing the excesses of the Trump tax cuts for corporations, reducing incentives for tax havens, evasion and outsourcing, ensuring corporations pay their fair share, closing other loopholes in our tax code that reward work not wealth, and ending subsidies for fossil fuels.”
Classic class-warfare rhetoric. The rich need to be punished for making money. Never mind the fact that they are the ones employing people and paying their wages; without them, our living standards would be far lower.
On second thought, maybe Biden is not that moderate after all. Someone who is “moderate” doesn’t propose a nearly $2 trillion plan that is paid for on the backs of the rich.
