It’s time for some straight talk with regards to the origins of the coronavirus. The time for tiptoeing around the issue is over. In no uncertain terms, the Chinese communist regime is responsible for the spread of the coronavirus around the world.
The virus originated from Wuhan, China, and the Chinese government failed to take the necessary procedures to prevent it’s spread. Instead, they resorted to covering up the outbreak and silencing whistleblowers who tried to sound the alarm.
The Chinese have gotten off too easily, and it’s time that the world collectively condemned the communist government’s actions. Many of us (the FreedomWire team included) are in self-quarantine in an effort to prevent further spread of the virus. Events have been canceled, businesses are closing down, and our lives have been upended. We can no longer watch sports, go to bars or restaurants, or even buy toilet paper—and that’s all thanks to the Chinese regime. It is time that they feel the wrath of global public opinion.
However, instead of condemning the Chinese, many snowflakes in this country claim that it is racist to refer to the virus as the Wuhan or Chinese virus. They claim that, by calling a spade a spade, we are suddenly racist against Chinese people. Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently said it was racism against the Chinese that was causing Chinese restaurants to see their number of patrons to fall.
She said, “Honestly, it sounds almost silly to say but there’s a lot of restaurants that are feeling the pain of racism. Where people are literally not patroning Chinese restaurants, uh, they’re not patroning Asian restaurants because of just straight-up racism around the coronavirus.”
AOC and other prominent figures in culture and politics are parroting Chinese propaganda when they utter similar stupidity. The Chinese government wants people to stop referring to the virus as the Chinese or Wuhan virus, and they claim that they are being discriminated against when people do so.
But it’s all an act. The REAL goal here is to get people to gloss over the communist regime’s ties to the virus.
They have gone so far as to blame the United States military for spreading the virus, saying that the Americans are attempting to frame the Chinese to hurt their global reputation. China is now threatening to cut off shipments of essential medical supplies to the United States and have expelled American journalists from the country.
Fox News reported, “In an article in Xinhua, the state-run media agency that’s largely considered the mouthpiece of the party, Beijing bragged about its handling of COVID-19, a virus that originated in the city of Wuhan and has spread quickly around the world, killing nearly 5,000 people and infecting thousands more. The article also claimed that China could impose pharmaceutical export controls which would plunge America into ‘the mighty sea of coronavirus.’”
Instead of admitting their mistakes, the Chinese are asking for (or maybe “demanding” is a better word) an apology from the United States. Yes, seriously, they have the gall to ask us for an apology when they should be on their hands and knees apologizing to the rest of the world for what they have done. An editorial in Xinhua, the state-run media outlet, read, “We should say righteously that the U.S. owes China an apology, the world owes China a thank you.”
That is outrageous. The Chinese can’t be serious. This whole situation is their fault. They have been covering up the details of the origins of the virus since the beginning and they have the nerve to ask for an apology from us?!?
Last month the South China News reported, “Chen Qiushi and Fang Bin were reporting from the province of Wuhan, China, the city where the Coronavirus originated. However, in the last few days, the two men have gone missing. The South China Morning Post reported that “Chen Qiushi, a lawyer, and Fang Bin, a Wuhan resident who became well known after he released a video clip of dead bodies in a van outside a major hospital, both disappeared last week.”
These men weren’t the only two whistleblowers to have disappeared or have been punished. This is par for the course for the Chinese communist regime.
The comparison has been made before, but I think it’s still incredibly accurate: this is China’s Chernobyl. The Chinese are behaving like the Soviet regime following the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear plant in 1986. Just like the Chinese, the Soviets tried to cover up the severity of the crisis and blamed it on outside forces.
It strains credulity to believe that this outbreak happened purely by accident. That doesn’t mean that the Chinese did this on purpose, but rather that they were incompetent. Of all the theories out there about the virus’ origin, the most plausible is that a Chinese lab in Wuhan was working on developing a virus and it accidentally got loose in the public and began to spread. The Chinese government sought to save face by covering up the severity of the coronavirus, and their actions since then have indicated that the theory might be correct.
There should be no doubt that the Chinese pose the biggest threat to the national security of the United States and Western civilization. The world should take notice of how the Chinese operate and take their threats seriously.
Regardless of what they claim, China is to blame for the spread of the Wuhan virus.
