There is a massive story that the international press is ignoring. In China, the Communist Party is seeking to eradicate people of faith and institute the state in the place of God. Both Christians and Muslims are being persecuted for their faith.
Christians are being forced to renounce their faith or risk losing government benefits. Muslims are being rounded up into concentration camps and being sterilized similar to what the Nazis did to the Jews during World War ll. Muslims have are also being forced to produce face masks as part of their “re-education” work programs.
According to a Chinese Religious Liberty watchdog publication Bitter Winter, “The coronavirus outbreak has significantly affected China’s economy and people’s livelihoods, primarily low-income households. Without much help from the state amid the pandemic, religious residents are also coerced to renounce their faith, or their welfare benefits will be canceled.
In April, the government of a town administered by Linfen, a prefecture-level city in the northern province of Shanxi, called officials from all villages under its jurisdiction for a meeting. The participants were ordered to remove crosses and religious symbols and images from the homes of people of faith who receive social welfare payments and replace them with portraits of Chairman Mao and President Xi Jinping. The officials were instructed to annul the subsidies to those who protest the order.”
In May, The Catholic News Agency reported that “authorities have resumed action to remove crosses from buildings and crack down on religious practices. The latest round of enforcement actions has included the removal of crosses from buildings belonging to the state-run churches. According to a report from UCA News, priests say they are cooperating in the removal of exterior crosses in hopes that entire church buildings will not be demolished or converted into a building for secular use.”
It shouldn’t be surprising that Christians and members of other faiths are being persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party. The Party needs to eliminate God so that the State becomes the all-knowing arbiter of righteousness. Morals are what the government says they are. Biblical morals contradict the Party’s principles and must be suppressed.
That is why pictures of Christ and depictions of the cross are being replaced with images of Chairman Mao Zedong and current President Xi Jinping. If citizens want to worship anyone, it must be the supreme leaders of the country.
Despite being the most prolific mass murderer in human history, Mao Zedong is still revered by the State apparatus and Chinese citizens are still forced to pay homage to the father of the Chinese Communist nation.
In addition to the 45 million killed as a result of the “Great Leap Forward,” an additional 1.5- 8 million were killed in his “Cultural Revolution.”
The Chinese Cultural Revolution (1967-1976) was launched by Mao to purge his enemies from the Party and replace them with people loyal to him. Millions were terrorized in the name of his cult of personality.
The message of Christ contradicts the message of the regime in Beijing. It isn’t any wonder why the CCP wants to erase Him from the memory of the Chinese people.
