In not-so-shocking news, the impeachment of Donald Trump is about to become official.

This should surprise no one who hasn’t had their head under a rock for the past few months.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi announced Thursday morning that the House would vote on impeaching President Trump.

Pelosi told reporters the following:

“The president’s actions have seriously violated the Constitution…The president leaves us no choice but to act. Sadly, but with confidence and humility, with allegiance to our Founders, and our heart full of love for America, today I am asking our chairmen to proceed with the articles of impeachment.”

Save us all the crocodile tears, Nancy. We ALL knew that this is what the Dems were up to this whole time.

She melodramatically stated that they have “no choice.” No choice? Really? How about you wait to impeach the president until you hear testimony from just ONE witness who has actually been told by President Trump directly that military funding was withheld from Ukraine until the Biden’s were investigated for political reasons.

Because so far, not one witness that has testified in the Democrat impeachment inquisition has stated that for the record.

In fact, the only witness to talk to Trump directly about Ukraine—Ambassador Gordon Sondland—told the Intelligence Committee that Trump told him “no quid pro quo” and that he just “wanted Zelensky to do the right thing.”

All the witnesses repeatedly stated that they were under the “impression” that aid was being withheld for political reasons. A person’s “impression” shouldn’t be the standard for impeachment.

The witnesses referenced the role Rudy Giuliani played in dealings with Ukraine. They claimed that they believed that Giuliani was working on orders from the president.

However, Giuliani isn’t president. Donald Trump is the president. Unless one of the witnesses had direct knowledge and heard it from the source himself, there is not enough to indict the president.

However, that is exactly what the Democrats are going to do.

On Wednesday, so-called non-partisan constitutional scholars testified about the Founders’ intent when they wrote the impeachment clause in the Constitution.

It is safe to assume that the Founders didn’t intend for the president of the United States to be impeached on hearsay evidence. They must be turning over in their graves at the Democrats efforts to impeach the president on such flimsy charges.

Not one to take a sucker punch lying down, President Trump responded to Speaker Pelosi’s announcement. He tweeted:

“The Do Nothing, Radical Left Democrats have just announced that they are going to seek to Impeach me over NOTHING. They already gave up on the ridiculous Mueller “stuff,” so now they hang their hats on two totally appropriate (perfect) phone calls with the Ukrainian President….

This will mean that the beyond important and seldom-used act of Impeachment will be used routinely to attack future Presidents. That is not what our Founders had in mind. The  good thing is that the Republicans have NEVER been more united. We will win!”

He is one-hundred percent correct. Impeaching the president on such a lack of evidence sets a dangerous precedent for the future of the Executive Branch. The opposition party can turn Congress into a personal political operation meant to overturn election results that didn’t go their way.

The Founders most certainly didn’t give the House of Representatives the sole power of impeachment for this reason. The words they used have real meanings and were not intended to be made up to suit what the Democrats think they should mean.

The only abuse of power that is taking place is not being undertaken by President Trump, but rather by Nancy Pelosi and her fellow Democrats.

The impeachment hearings haven’t swayed the public and will likely backfire on the Democrats.

So go ahead Pelosi, impeach away…

We’ve been waiting.
