Are you feeling the unity yet?

Joe “Captain Unity” Biden promised us during his inauguration speech that he would calm the stormy seas of discord and restore harmony to our suffering land…but yesterday he essentially called Republicans domestic terrorists.

So much unity. Truly touching.

In Philadelphia yesterday, Biden ironically spoke from the U.S. Constitution Center where he condemned Republican state legislatures for attempting to pass election integrity laws. At the same time, he pushed for the passage of the unconstitutional “For the People Act” in which the federal government would take over near-total control of elections from the state government, which the Constitution leaves to the states.

Captain Unity then proceeded to launch disgusting volleys of lies and accusations at Republicans, saying that their actions were tantamount to new Jim Crow laws and that the GOP poses the greatest threat to democracy since the Civil War.

That seems just a little over the top, don’t you think?

Biden claimed he was not using “hyperbole.” Seriously guys, accusing Republicans of creating the gravest threat to democracy since the Civil War is not hyperbolic.

Biden said the following:

“We’re facing the most significant test of our democracy since the Civil War. It’s not hyperbole, since the Civil War. The Confederates back then, never breached the Capitol, as insurrectionists did on January the 6th. I’m not saying this to alarm you. I’m saying this because you should be alarmed.”

Ah, yes, because a few idiots without guns were really in a position to overthrow the United States government on January 6th. I am not excusing their behavior, but an entire Confederate Army with guns and cannons was just a little closer to ending the United States as we know it than that QAnon Shaman guy.

Biden continued:

“They want voters to [inaudible] further and be able to be in a position where they wonder who’s watching them and intimidating them, to wait longer to vote, to drive a hell of a lot long–, excuse me, a long way to get to vote,” he said. “They want to make it so hard and inconvenient that they hope the people don’t vote at all. That’s what this is about. This year alone, 17 states have enacted, not just proposed, but enacted 28 new laws to make it harder for Americans to vote, not to mention, and catch this, nearly 400 additional bills, Republican members of the state legislatures are trying to pass. The 21st century Jim Crow assault is real. It’s unrelenting. We’re gonna challenge it vigorously.”

To paraphrase Ronald Reagan: “There he goes again.”

Biden continues to trot out the racist line that Black people aren’t capable of driving or getting a ride to their local polling place. As if all Black people are poor and don’t own cars, or don’t know people who own cars.

Also, it is rural Americans—who are mostly white—that live further from the polls. Black people, the demographic most strongly represented in major cities, actually have increased access to polling precincts.

Once again, this is another Biden lie that is easily debunked.

I am sure the fact checkers over at Snopes and the Washington Post will debunk him…right?

Knowing how they operate, I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Also, is it “Jim Crow” or “Jim Eagle,” Joe? I can’t keep it straight.

Biden once said that the Republican election laws are so much worse than Jim Crow that “they make Jim Crow look like Jim Eagle.”

Have we approached Jim Eagle laws yet?

Biden’s rhetoric is further dividing an already splintered populace. Instead of cooling the temperature, he is pouring gasoline on a fire that was already lit, making the situation even more volatile and dangerous.

And there is no putting the genie of national discontent back in the bottle once it’s out.
