President Biden came into office promising that he would unite the country and restore peace and harmony to our land.
Well, so far, Americans aren’t feeling the unity.
A new Rasmussen poll found that Americans don’t think Biden is living up to his promise to unite the country.
Breitbart reported, that “The survey asked respondents to rate how President Biden has done in terms of uniting the country. Fifty-three percent said he has done a ‘poor” job,’ while 15 percent said ‘fair.’ Another 20 percent said he is doing a ‘good’ job, and 10 percent said ‘excellent.’
Notably, 79 percent of Republicans and 60 percent of independents said Biden is doing a ‘poor’ job at uniting the country. Democrats remain fairly divided, as 52 percent say he is doing either good or excellent, and 45 percent say poor or fair.”
Not only do Americans believe that Biden is doing a poor job uniting the country, they also believe that the country has become more divided in the over nine months he has been in office.
But, hey guys, Joe Biden is going to restore civility to the presidency! The adults are back in charge, and they’ll be a return to normalcy after the Big Bad Orange Man!
Or at least that’s how the Democrats and their media accomplices assured us it would go down.
So far, though, Americans aren’t feeling the love for either their president or each other.
Breitbart also reported that “The survey also asked, ‘Has America become more united or more divided since last year’s election, or has it remained about the same?’
A solid majority of voters, 64 percent, said the country has become ‘more divided’ since the last election, while 23 percent said it has remained ‘about the same.’ Another 11 percent said it has been ‘more united,’ and three percent said they are ‘not sure.’”
Is it any wonder why Americans don’t think Biden is a unifier?
This is the same man who blamed the unvaccinated for the state of the pandemic.
“We’ve been patient, but our patience is wearing thin. And your refusal has cost all of us,” he said during his controversial vaccine mandate announcement.
Yeah, making a segment of the populace as the culprits for causing/prolonging the pandemic doesn’t conjure up images of better times, does it?
Similarly, calling those who support voter integrity laws racists and accusing them of bringing America back to the times of Jim Crow—or “Jim Eagle,” as Biden fond of saying—aren’t the words of a benevolent leader either.
Because after all, Republicans want to “put y’all back in chains,” as he once so elegantly told a crowd of minorities during Barack Obama’s 2012 campaign.
Joe Biden keeps using the blanket term “unity,” but that begs the question of what exactly we are supposed to unite behind. It is easy to say we should unite, but what does that mean in practice?
Americans from both parties used to unite to defend the principles enshrined in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. But now many in Joe Biden’s party want to undo several of those principles.
The two parties used to have differences on things like tax and spending policy and the size of government, not on whether America should be fundamentally changed into a socialist utopia.
Conservatives want to conserve those principles; Liberals have adopted a platform designed to undermine and destroy them. Until both sides can get back to believing in the common defense of liberty, there will be no unity. Culturally and politically, we will remain divided. We must have a common set of values to unite behind. Vague references to unity won’t suffice, and the Left’s redefining of unity to mean “complete obedience of their agenda” will never be a standard that brings people together.
If Americans are looking to unify, they have shown that they don’t believe Joe Biden is the man to get the job done.
And given his job competency so far, that isn’t likely to change, meaning America will remain divided because of him.
