Will this government power grab ever end? Not if Joe Biden has anything to say about it.
They keep telling us to follow the science, so let’s follow the science.
Yes, the new Delta variant of the coronavirus is contagious…very contagious. However, thus far, it is far less deadly and severe than the original strain.
Infections are up, but deaths are increasing at a much slower rate than would be expected with such a high case total.
But of course, in this age of government overreach and media panic, it’s back to quarantine!
Not officially, but the Biden administration isn’t ruling out the possibility.
At a White House press briefing on Thursday, White House Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked by Fox News’ Peter Doocy whether the administration would consider national lockdowns.
She didn’t rule it out.
The following was their exchange:
Doocy: “So, if you’re listening to the scientists, if scientists come to you at some point down the line and say it is our opinion that there should be shutdowns and there should be school closures, you would do that?
Jean-Pierre: “Well, we listen to, like I said, we listen to the CDC and the expert and their guidance are, you know, the CDC is a body that is very well respected. And again, we follow their guidance.”
President Biden can call for national lockdowns all he wants, but he doesn’t have the Constitutional authority to enforce them. So, ultimately, what he says is irrelevant.
Although Democrat governors would likely follow his lead and institute the lockdowns for him.
Also, “the CDC is a body that is very well respected.” Really?
Unless you are in favor of government tyranny, I am not sure who respects the CDC.
They have been wrong so many times that their mistakes could fill a library’s worth of books.
The lockdowns and mask mandates didn’t slow the spread of the virus before, even though the CDC recommended such measures.
The CDC’s ridiculous mask mandate is jumping the gun…big time.
In England, the Delta variant was prevalent only a few weeks ago, but already the Delta wave is receding there. And India, where the variant originated, infections are way down as well.
Give it a few more weeks, and the Delta wave will likely be over, so this is a needless intervention in the lives of Americans.
It is also amusing to see the CDC undercut vaccine public relations by claiming that the virus can still be spread by vaccinated folks while at the same time demanding that all Americans get vaccinated.
So far, the vaccines have been largely effective, so why do Americans who have been vaccinated need to mask up again?
If people don’t want to get vaccinated, they know the risks, so vaccinated people shouldn’t be made to wear masks to protect people that have the option to protect themselves.
Once again, let’s follow the science.
According to the New York Post, “Out of 161 million US residents who were fully vaccinated as of July 19, just 5,601 caught a severe breakthrough infection and were hospitalized — an infinitesimal 0.0035 percent of the protected population, according to the latest CDC figures available on post-vaccination infections.
When it comes to deaths, the risk is even lower, with just 1,141 vaccinated people dying from a COVID-19 breakthrough infection — or 0.0007 percent of those fully jabbed.”
But, by all means, let’s all mask up and go back into quarantine for a 0.00007 percent death rate.
Of course, it is tragic when anyone dies, but that doesn’t mean society should be shut down for such a low death rate.
If the disease was as deadly as, say, the 1918 Spanish flu, then it is safe to assume that people wouldn’t have to be coaxed into getting the vaccine. As free citizens, Americans are capable of making their own health decisions by weighing the costs and benefits.
But that doesn’t matter to the government. They think we are all too stupid to make the right decision. They will happily do our thinking for us on this one.
The CDC is a government entity, so naturally, they are going to be biased towards government mandates, because it gives them more power over the lives of Americans.
They just can’t relinquish their power. This is a power move, pure and simple.
Americans are fed up with government mandates and aren’t likely to take it much longer…hopefully.
Because if there is one thing that has been disappointing about Americans during the pandemic, it is that too many have been willing to do what the government tells them to do, the Constitution be damned.
Once the government pokes their claws into our lives, they never let go.
To paraphrase Ronald Regan, there is nothing closer to eternity on earth than a government-enforced mandate.
