So much for the “tough on China” stance Biden promised last week when establishing his foreign policy agenda.
During a town hall where Biden took questions from CNN’s Anderson Cooper in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Tuesday, the president revealed a significant change in his approach to China.
In just one week’s time, Biden went from vowing to “push back on China’s attack on human rights, intellectual property, and global governance,” to justifying and downplaying their abhorrent human rights abuses.

Shocking Americans, Biden took the opportunity to stand with Chinese President Xi and back up his leadership tactics instead of maintaining the hardline approach he promised just last week.
Biden explained that President Xi’s “rationale for the things he does” is to ensure a “united, tightly controlled China” which is the “central principle” of his leadership.
While this “principle” of control certainly makes sense from a dictator’s point of view, Biden shockingly says that he will therefore not “speak out” against Beijing’s horrific genocide of China’s rural Muslim minority population, the Uyghurs, or about the CCP’s decimation of individual rights in Hong Kong.
“I’m not going to speak out against what he’s doing in Hong Kong, what he’s doing with the Uyghurs in the Western mountains of China,” Biden revealed.
Completely downplaying China’s detention, torture, forced labor, and murder of about one million Uyghurs in the Xinjiang province, Biden minimized it to simply, “different norms.”
“Culturally, there are different norms of each country and the leaders are expected to follow,” the 46th president said.
This is a massive shift from the Trump Administration’s “tough on China” stance, which strongly condemned and penalized China’s Uyghur genocide and abuse of power in Hong Kong.
Biden has made it clear he fully intends to be soft on China, regardless of the human rights atrocities they commit. What’s worse is that he’s acknowledging the evil they do, but justifying it for them as a different style of leadership, or cultural norm.
This is a horrible precedent being set for future generations, suggesting that we should sit back and accept heinous mistreatment of people in other cultures because that is how the leadership in those countries maintain strength and power.
We should be outraged by this immensely un-American idea Joe Biden is perpetuating. It defies everything this country stands for, especially justice, equality, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, and freedom to protest.
