Vladimir Lenin once referred to Americans who spread communist propaganda in America —most notably journalist Lincoln Steffens—as “useful idiots.”

Fast forward to today, and communist Cuba has its own useful idiot: Senator Bernie Sanders. The Democrat frontrunner is an admirer of former socialist dictator Fidel Castro. The man who persecuted religious groups, spread poverty, made extensive use of firing squads, and murdered thousands of his own people is the same man that Bernie praises for his contributions to society.

Democrats, is Bernie really acting like the man you want to be your nominee?

Cuba would love it if Comrade Bernie became president of the United States. Granma, the leading communist newspaper in Cuba, gave Sanders the front-page treatment for singing Castro’s praises. Sanders has spoken highly of “some of the socialist programs implemented by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro,” according to the communist publication. The publication went on to say, “U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, today one of the strongest candidates for the nomination of the Democratic Party in the November presidential elections, recognized Cuba’s role in sending doctors worldwide.”

Sanders sparked outrage in the South Florida Cuban exile community when he praised Castro’s literacy initiative in a 60 Minutes interview on Sunday. Bernie told host Anderson Cooper “you know, when Fidel Castro came to office, you know what he did? He had a massive literacy program. Is that a bad thing? Even though Fidel Castro did it?”

Yes, Bernie, it IS a bad thing. Because Castro and his henchman Che Guevara instituted the literacy program so that Cuba’s children could learn to read and write communist propaganda.

The Miami Herald reported, “Sander’s comments angered many Cuban exiles and Cuban Americans who pointed out on social media that the literacy program carried out by Castro after coming to power in 1959 was highly politicized—as was the resulting educational system—and the senator was selective in avoiding references to the repression on the island, or the executions that Castro organized at the beginning of the revolution.”

In response, the city of Miami has banded together to oppose Sanders’s Communist propaganda. The Miami Herald reported, “Miami Mayor Francis Suarez and Commissioner Joe Carollo don’t agree on much these days, but they were in lockstep Monday in promoting an ‘anti-communist concert’ set for April 11 at the James L. Knight Center downtown.

In fact, all of the city’s elected officials agreed: The commission voted 5-0 to co-sponsor the event at the city-owned Knight Center and said the city would waive up to $21,500 in rental costs, broadcasting fees and police and fire services…

Twenty-two artists are scheduled to perform, including legendary Cuban-American trumpet player Arturo Sandoval and singers Willy Chirino and Amaury Gutiérrez. Emilio Estefan has also said he plans to attend the concert, though he will not be performing.

Organizers said the artists are all performing free of charge and that ticket proceeds would go toward covering their expenses.

Additional money raised will go to the nonprofit Cuban Democratic Directorate, which helps political prisoners in Cuba and their families, according to the group’s co-founder, Orlando Gutierrez-Boronat. The nonprofit’s initiatives include JusticeCuba, a group of 10 attorneys working to prosecute members of the Castro regime, Gutierrez-Boronat said.”

As his campaign continues, Bernie will become more of a useful idiot for communist regimes throughout the world. They will be much obliged.

Let’s try to avoid helping them further by preventing Sanders from becoming president.
