How do you like living in the 21st Century?

It would actually be a pretty awesome time to be alive if we could find a way to keep Liberal extremism under control.

But that’s just something we have to deal with while living in the most amazing time in recorded history.

The world has never been smaller. We can communicate in almost real-time with anyone anywhere around the globe.

We can send rockets into space and then bring them back down to earth.

We can watch almost any show or film from the comfort of our own homes.

Yet, even with all that progress, we can’t seem to forgive somebody for something they’ve done in the past.

Think about the things and people that have gotten canceled over the past two years.

Roseanne Barr got fired from her own show for tweeting at somebody using a “Planet of the Apes” movie reference. She was labeled a deranged racist—even though she had no idea that the person she was tweeting about was a person of color.

Kevin Hart, one of America’s most beloved comedic actors, was canceled from hosting the Oscars after a tweet over a DECADE old saying he’d smash his son’s dollhouse if he thought he was gay.

Right now, Leftists and Liberals are canceling the Founding Fathers left and right, tearing down their images, murals, and statues and accusing them of creating a racist system.

Cancel Culture The NEW Norm In America

They canceled books like To Kill A Mockingbird and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

They even banned “Gone With the Wind” from being broadcast on television.

But that’s not the only thing on their chopping block.

Now, they’re doing away with an American standard. In their quest for social justice, they’re canceling Aunt Jemima, one of the most popular providers of pancake mixes and maple syrup.

Why?

Because the image on the box is too “stereotypical” representation of black women.

But there’s a catch…

See, Aunt Jemima was a REAL person – not in name, but in history.

“Aunt Jemima” was a former slave from Kentucky named Nancy Green, who after her emancipation, moved to Chicago and became a cook for a prominent judge who then recommended her to be a brand representative for R.T. Davis Milling Company’s pancake mix.

What made the character so popular was Green’s retelling of stories from her time on the plantation. It endeared her—and the brand of pancake mix—to thousands when she gave a presentation at the World’s Fair. After she died, the moniker of “Aunt Jemima” was passed down to another former slave named Anna Harrington.

Harrington’s likeness was used going forward, and her family was proud of it.

However, in the middle of the woke cancel culture, how Harrington’s family feels about her picture doesn’t matter. Quaker Foods, the brand’s parent company, will be bowing down to the Liberal mob and taking the Aunt Jemima brand off the shelves.

Even though the image of Aunt Jemima has evolved over the years to represent a strong woman of means, this isn’t enough for the Liberals.

Despite its affiliations with helping black women, Aunt Jemima is going the way of the dodo.

The Left’s Lack Of Self-Awareness

However, if the Left had any sense of self-awareness, they’d have asked the descendants of both Aunt Jemimas what they thought. Their thoughts on the matter probably would have surprised the average woke Leftist.

Larnell Evans Sr, Anna Harrington’s great-grandson, told a local reporter, “This is an injustice for me and my family. This is part of my history, sir. The racism they talk about, using images from slavery, that comes from the other side — white people. This company profits off images of our slavery. And their answer is to erase my great-grandmother’s history. A black female…It hurts.”

Quaker Foods could have had a better response…

They could have offered proceeds of Aunt Jemima sales to a charity that helped black youths or the black community…

They could have offered Mr. Evans and his family some compensation going forward…

They could have gotten an actual photo of Anne Harrington and put that on the labels…

There are multiple ways around this issue, but Quaker Foods decided to go with the easiest and yet most harmful option.

This is the cancel culture of America in the 21st Century…

And it’s absolutely out of control.

“This idea of purity, and you’re never compromised, and you’re politically woke, and all that stuff… you should get over that quickly. The world is messy. There are ambiguities. People who do really good stuff have flaws.” – Barack Obama
