Imagine a world in which you’re so entitled, you think getting something outlandish is a compromise because what you want is even MORE outlandish.
As a kid, I once asked my mom if I could stay up till 11 o’clock in order to watch the end of my favorite movie (at the time): King Kong.
She said, “No way, you’re going to bed at 9, like you always do.”
And I told her, “But mom, I REALLY want to stay up till midnight! Can’t we make a deal?!”
I was six.
Well, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is trying to make the same argument as six-year-old me, taking her fellow Dems to task over their failure to back Leftist demands that the minimum wage be raised to $15 an hour.
She says the minimum wage should ACTUALLY be $24 and that raising the minimum wage from the current $7.25 per hour up to $15 is actually a HUGE compromise.
In a recent interview with Leftist journalist Medhi Hasan, the Liberal Lunatic said, “Any person who thinks that a $15 minimum wage is the ‘crazy socialist agenda’ is living in a dystopian capitalist nightmare. And we should not prop that up. We should not continue that.”
Now, before we move on, I have to ask…have you recovered from laughing at her “dystopian capitalist nightmare” comment yet? Or do you still need a minute?
I’ll admit, it took me a few moments to compose myself after reading that joke of a line. Any American who lives in this great country and can still describe it as a “dystopian capitalist nightmare” while taking advantage of iPhones, SUVs, and $3,500 shoes should be laughed at and laughed at HARD.
AOC Acts Like A 6-Year-Old
But that wasn’t all the Democratic Dingbat had to say…
“There are basic goods that people can’t afford to live on $7.25 an hour,” she continued, trying to gain those virtue signaling points by saying that that it’s “deeply, deeply shameful” that they are still having to have this conversation.
Maybe it’s because a minimum wage job was NEVER designed to be a career choice – and those that shaped the system expected people to improve their station and seek out more.
Why should you try to improve yourself, gain knowledge, or go to school if you can make a decent living doing menial tasks?
What does the Left want? A nation of under-achievers?
Obviously, that must be it, since AOC tried to make the case as to WHY $15 is a deal for voters: “Because when you take the minimum wage from several decades ago and you actually account for inflation and productivity gains to today, it should be $24 an hour. So, we need other Democrats to understand how deep of a compromise $15 an hour is.”
There’s the logic that six-year-old Shawn tried to use to talk his mom into letting him stay up late.
Minimum Wages For MINIMUM Skills
Does it surprise anybody that AOC is using a child’s argument to get what she wants?
AOC went on, “In the United States of America, you should you know if you are working a full-time job, you should be able to afford to live.”
A full-time job is NOT a minimum wage job…
A full-time job comes with full-time wages; a part-time job comes with part-time wages.
You want to earn more? Go to school…Take a course…Learn a trade…
Do something other than lean on a job MEANT for high-school kids who need money to put gas in their cars or take their special someone out to dinner at Red Lobster.
Stop trying to promote American mediocrity…
Start promoting American exceptionality.
Then we wouldn’t need to have this conversation, would we?
